ASK Cubby, Version- More Questions, Less Answers

“Hey Cubby,

What’s up with the media blockout you guys have on Traxxas? You know us Traxxas owners deserve some news too!

Stanley S.”

Cubby- Yo, hey now Stanley, shoot us your snail mail for an extra sweet BSRC sticker pack.

So about that “media blackout” you say we have on Traxxas. We have no such thing. In fact, Traxxas news usually gives our site big numbers. However, and there is always a however, we can’t report news that simply does not exist. With that said, did you see the post we did on the new Traxxas Skully, Craniac, and stability system last night??? 🙂

The “big rumor” going around for the last 6 months or so was that TRX had something big coming in Q2 of 2015. Well, here we are, smack dab in the second quarter, and we haven’t heard of a big new vehicle. Some certain industry sources say they aren’t releasing anything “big” this year, while others are still saying it’s gonna be a huge year for them. Nobody but the TRX crew knows for sure, hopefully they have a lot in store for you die hard Traxxas fans.

Any which way… while the cat is gone, the mice will play. Yup, Traxxas still rules the roost for sales at most hobby shops, but brands like ECX and ARRMA have made great strides. The rc marketplace is dog eat dog, and if you don’t bring your “A” game (read- keeping releasing lots of cool new products), you can expect someone else to take your place on top of the heap.

“this week’s report (1/19/15)

I just want to say, that no, not everyone has been to a funeral. Well, I haven’t. I’m probably the only one. I’m 35 (36 in 2 months) and I can honestly say that I have never been, and will never go to a funeral or memorial. It’s just not my thing.

Other than that, I’ve been in the RC hobby since the 90s. First car was an RC10 gold pan. It was the first model with the stealth transmission and came with a manual speed control. My how times have changed. Gotta love lipo and brushless power!

Happy Monday. Love your guys’ shootouts!

Chad E.”

Cubby- What’s up slick, don’t forget to shoot us your addy for the hook-up on a BSRC sticker pack.

I am just now seeing your letter even though you wrote it 3 months ago, such is the pace of the interns around this place.

And ya, I know people like you that choose not to go to funerals. This is America (of sorts), so it is totally your choice. You are 35/36’ish, so you’ve been around enough to know what works for you and what does not. Personally, as you read in that particular Cub Report, I do attend. I learned decades ago that funerals are not for the dead, they are for the living. I go not only for the sense of closure, but more so, to show my support for the family members in attendance.

And word up on the old gold pan. Sadly AE felt the need to bring out new ones, which kinda ruined their appeal to me. It was “cool” to show up with a legit gold pan that you had labored on over the years, and spent hours upon hours searching for parts, searching for period correct electronics, etc. After the re-release, not so much.

That’s it ya bunch of raving lunatics. Shoot me an email if you dare- Cubby at BigSquidRC.com. If your letter hits the big time you’ll get a free sticker pack, if I proclaim yours as “Letter of the Month” you will win one of our uber new t-shirts (even in your size!!!).
