THE HPI Bullet Monster Truck Flux Review

The HPI Racing Ken Block WR8 FLUX finally gets official! We have been posting news about the Ken Block vehicle for a while now as bits and pieces were leaked out, but the official PR is finally here. We finally get to see under the body as well. When we saw it in person we couldn’t get our eyes underneath because we were told the ‘official battery straps’ were not final. We were not sure what the HPI spokespeople were talking about, but now we know!
Some details we may or may not of mentioned before:
4WD 1/8th scale based on the HPI WR8
Up to 3S Lipo can be run on the FPI Flux Vektor motor getting you to 60mph
The chassis has side wall/guards to help keep out rocks and other stuff.

There have not been that many good photos of the new HPI Ken Block vehicle except for the ones we posted, and a few people have asked if we had any more. So we dug deep to see if there were any we have not posted yet, and I believe this is the last of them. Enjoy, and look for more info coming soon on this ride!
The HPI crew also made their way to Lincoln Nebraska for the HobbyTown USA Convention. In their suite was their full line-up of cars, buggies and trucks. Of special note was their new Ken Block rally car, which unfortunately we couldn’t take any body-off photos because HPI is still waiting on a few parts. One of their ultra trick Special Edition Savage X 4.6′s was also on display, as was one of their new Super 5SC Flux’s. We recently posted some pictures and a little info about the upcoming Ken Block WR8 Flux coming soon from HPI Racing. Well something caught our attention in the new ad for the vehicle. Normally when a company is showing off a larger scale ride, they do a shadow/outline of how much bigger that vehicle is over a 1/10th or 1/8th scale. Normally when they do this, it’s against one of their own vehicles. Not this time, unless HPI has a 1/16 scale rally car we don’t know about. Looks like they want people to not get theirs confused with that ‘other’ scale ride, from that ‘other’ company. Glad to see the HPI guys stepping up and promoting this one.

I think a lot of folks are wondering how the HPI Racing Super 5SC Flux is going to do. It’s priced right, it’s big, and it’s 4WD! We had the chance to unbox one with our good friend Steve from the Hobby Town in Orland Park, IL. First impressions are decent. It’s big and heavy, but only time will tell if a 1/8th scale power system can take the abuse we plan on giving that vehicle. Over all it feels pretty sturdy.

It seems like the people over at HPI Racing have been on the warpath lately for releasing new vehicles! Their latest announcement is for the RTR Baja 5B Flux. It boasts speeds of 60mph on 8s lipo using a Castle Creations Mamba XL2 ESC and NEU-Castle 2028-780Kv Motor. HPI reworked the all the aluminum parts for this one, and have gone with a gun metal color this time around. The drive train is the same as used in the 5SC to handle the massive power, and the adjustable motor mount will help you get that gearing just right.

We have been posting info about the Ken Block Vehicle from HPI Racing as it comes in, but I wanted to point out this shot they posted of the rims/tires. The DC logo is a nice little touch. Heck HPI will probably be able to sell just these rims, I know a few people that would add these to their rides.
Update: Someone wrote in to say Traxxas had the DC logo on their rims as well.. not sure why I never noticed.
The biggest buzz going around the BigSquid offices this morning is about the forthcoming 10th scale Ken Block Rally Car from HPI. After watching Block score a silver medal at X-Games over the weekend we are all stoked to get in some rally-cross action in the parking lot.

I know there are a lot of people out there that have been waiting for something like this! Recently a couple of photo’s popped up with Ken Block signing autographs next to what is most likely a HPI WR8 3.0 with a Ken Block 2012 paint job on in. Aww yea! We are ready to get our drift on now. Hopefully there is a Tanner Foust edition not far behind so we can really get down to business! Either way, I know people have been looking for some larger drift/rally vehicles to bash with, and this may be the one.
HPI didn’t really have much more info on their HPI Racing Facebook Page, but hopefully we will know more soon, and will bring you the details when we can!
