Travis Pastrana
The Travis Pastrana Nitro Circus world tour rolled through Joliet Illinois on Thursday and Friday to compete in the Traxxas TORC off-road series. Travis drove a Red Bull backed Pro 2 truck to a strong second place finish on Thursday night, but got hacked early and ended up on his lid later in the main on Friday. When talking to TP199 he seemed super stoked to be racing the Traxxas TORC series. No doubt he brings a lot of excitement to the series and hopefully we seem him race more in the future.

MIP Pro4mance Package
A few days ago while walking past Cubby’s pit table in the back of the BigSquidRC offices I snapped off this picture. As you can see above, Cubby has hoarded our review sample of the MIP Pro4mance Tuning Package for the Losi TEN SCTE. From the looks of the note that says “You Touch, You Die – Cubby” he’s pretty serious about being the first person in the office to test it out!

Until our review gets posted click HERE to find out more information.

rc wedding
Congratulations go to Kari and Ken on their recent wedding. Ken’s a local rc/crawler guy here in the Illinois area, and when we heard about how his wedding went down, we had to post it!

Ken:

When the rings were asked for, I turned to the best man for them and he pretended like he didn’t have them. He “checked” all his pockets then turn to the other groomsman and they did the same. After thhe came up empty a groomsman then turned and pretended like he was going back to get the rings but he came back with my DX3R and handed it to the best man. The best man then proceeded to drive the car, which was staged out of view, from the back of the church up the aisle with the rings in tow.

Awesome! And not only do we have pics.. there is a video! With onboard cam!!

Congrats again guys! I bet the reception/bash was insane!

FreshPark Ramp
Every weekend warrior likes to air it out, but sometimes coming up with a good ramp can be a hassle. Luckily for you FreshPark has a solution. FreshPark, also known for their high quality skate and moto ramps, is selling ramps targeted at the rc crowd. Pictured above is their “Launch Ramp” that is weatherproof, folds down flat, holds up to 500 lbs, and costs about $230. Hit up this LINK for more information.

Rally Legends
The rally car scene has been coming on strong and the gentlemen from Rally Legends RC have some incredible looking cars to add to your collection. The guys at Rally Legends have been diligently working on making their cars perform every bit as good as they look.

New from Rally Legends RC at the HobbyTown USA Convention was a sophisticated lighting kit to add even more scale realism. The new light kit has a street price of under $50, look for our review in the near future.

HPI Booth HobbyTown
The HPI crew also made their way to Lincoln Nebraska for the HobbyTown USA Convention. In their suite was their full line-up of cars, buggies and trucks. Of special note was their new Ken Block rally car, which unfortunately we couldn’t take any body-off photos because HPI is still waiting on a few parts. One of their ultra trick Special Edition Savage X 4.6′s was also on display, as was one of their new Super 5SC Flux’s. HPI also had ice cold Mountain Dew in the fridge, a welcome refreshment to weary show goers such as Brian and I. Want to visit HPI’s official website to view all their products? HERE is the link.

Wall Of Traxxas
Traxxas is no doubt a favorite among bashers and they had a large suite at the HobbyTown USA Convention. Everywhere you turned was more product, and this year they had an area highlighting their new rc drag timing system (that we can’t wait to get our hands on!!!). Traxxas didn’t debut any new products at the show, but it was nice getting a chance to rub elbows with them for a couple of days.

Horizon Hobby
All the big hitters were at the HobbyTown USA Convention including Horizon Hobby. In the picture above you can see Horizon rep Andy Miller (also an old college buddy of mine) showing off some of their Blade helicopters. The Horizon crew had a nice set-up in their suite with lots of product and even better, lots of food to munch on. Have you been over to Horizon’s website lately? If not HERE is the link.

Align RC
Align is mainly known for their helicopters, but many surface enthusiasts use their servos and other electronics. At the 2012 HobbyTown USA convention Align was showing off their new almost ready to fly helicopter. It’s one of their high end helicopters that comes built and loaded with electronics except for a transmitter. Most interesting to the surface crowd is the fact that the included receiver can work with both Futaba and Spektrum 2.4Ghz transmitters. Let’s hope that is a sign of the future for surface ARR’s- trucks that come ready to go minus a transmitter, but the included receiver can be used on multiple platforms of 2.4GHz technology. How nice would that be to have one receiver that works with different brands of 2.4GHz transmitters?

Have you read our 2.4GHz transmitter shootout? If not check it out HERE.

VP Racing Fuels
Another company showing at the 2012 HobbyTown USA Convention was VP Racing Fuels. VP was showing off their specially blended PowerMaster surface and air nitro blends. They make fuel for nearly every rc application, for all you rc drag guys I did see they make a 50% nitro blend just for you. Click THIS link for more information.

RC Driver
One of the booths at the HobbyTown USA 2012 Convention was from RC Driver magazine. The ever affable Greg Vogel was manning the booth answering questions, handing out magazines, and talking shop with Brian. Hit up THIS link to see what’s new over at Driver.
