Looks like Cubby forgot to close the hamster cage again.. and they all made a run for it!
As punishment, we have hooked the hamster wheel up to Cubby’s bike, and making him peddle till we catch the hamsters!

Sorry for the down time.

Hey Folks.. sorry for the lack of BSRC.. there was a HUGE storm that rolled through where our ISP is located, and knocked out power to the whole place.

Anyway.. it looks like we are back up! Keep your fingers crossed the squirrels don’t get tired!

Wow, just a few days ago I was talking about how the RC news has been a little slow. Today, have a mailbox full of news, so make sure to check back for new stories as they are posted throughout the day.

And oh yea, it’s about -15 here, and something like -35 with the windchill! Not sure we are going to do any outdoor testing this weekend! LOL.

Hey all,
Big Squid RC has never been known for our forums. Well, except for the Drag Racing Forum. If it’s RC Drag Racing you are looking to talk about, you have found the right place. For everything else though, our forums have been pretty general, and we have never really tried to hype them up. We know there are a LOT of good forums out there, heck we hang out on them as well.

That being said, we are looking to try and pick up our forum traffic. We are going to be re-working some of the forum soon, getting rid of some of the areas that nobody talks about (xmods) and maybe add a few sections we think would be useful.

This is where YOU come in! What sections do you think we should add? Is there a section you think we should add? Is there an area of RC that nobody else has a good place to talk about it that you think someone needs to do? Should we be more general? Should we have a 1/5th scale section? Should we break up nitro and electric? Maybe things are broken up too much and we should just have ALL BASHING ALL THE TIME! Let us know! Drop me an email or post in the forums general section! Let us know how to improve the site. This is your chance to tell us what you want!

I was figuring with all the big RC companies being out over the holidays I would start to get the flood of new press releases in my mail box this week, but at the moment it’s pretty quiet! Maybe nobody wants to try and compete with all the HPI Savage Flux news going around lately! :)

Anyway, if you have some RC news tips, feel free to mail them over! Brian [at] BigSquidRC.com. We are always on the hunt for some good writers.. so if you are looking to express yourself to the world, not in just some forum somewhere, feel free to drop us a line, let us know your interests.. could use someone to cover the rc crawler world scene if you are into it, or any other area of interest.

As another year comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to thank all the people that helped make 2008 an amazing year for Big Squid RC. We grew leaps and bounds this year, and really have started to make some waves in the world of internet RC. From our viral videos, to our very much copied style, terms, and stories. We are happy to be the leaders watching the others scramble to be just like us. We woke up a lot of companies at iHobby Expo, and we promise to keep bringing you eye opening and original work in 2009!

Thanks to all of our readers who faithfully keep coming back for more news, reviews and incite. Keep telling your friends about us!

Thanks to all of our writers: Cubby, Jason Anis, Rey (Stangrey), Wesley Dennis (Microman), and our forum moderators Bill (firespring281) and Chris (thenewguy821).

Thanks and good luck in 2009 to our Pro Driver Tim Mohr! We can’t wait to watch you take over the electric 1/8th scale world!

Thanks to everyone who helped make iHobby Expo such a success for us! We could not of done it without you all! Tim, Jason, Jim, Bill, Chris, Geno, Anna, Ewa, Alfonso, Elizabeth and Cubby!

Finally a huge thanks to all of our sponsors this year! Without you all, we wouldn’t be able to pay the electric bill to keep this place running! Make sure to go visit these sites, show your support, and buy their products! Also tell them we said hi. In no particular order:
Duratrax, Max Amps, O’Donnell Racing, Traxxas, Futaba RC, Team Checkpoint, Best RC, HPI Racing, EDS Racing Products, Team Novak, Grand MotorSports, Leisure Hours Hobbies, RC Car Kings, RC Hobbies Naperville, Buku Power, Dragrace Concepts, Acer Racing, Roy Anderson Engineering, Pro-Line Racing, Parma PSE, Schumacher USA and RC Hardware!
Thank you all so very much! Hopefully I didn’t miss anyone, if I did, send your mail to Cubby, he gets lonely.

Don’t worry, Cubby should be back from his vacation next week (fingers crossed) and you will be able to enjoy your weekly soap box once again.

Leave it to Cubby to tell people to send me more email! LOL. I won’t mind seeing what people vote on for sure.. I have a few ideas for my vote. So what’s going to be the vehicle of the year? Will it be a Traxxas vehicle? AE? Losi? Or the out of nowhere D8 from Hot Bodies? Keep in mind, Cubby is probably looking more for basher related stuff.

Anyway, send in those emails, and we will count them up and see what’s hot! If you are really brave head over to the Forums to discuss your choices!

Wow.. not sure what happened over the weekend.. but the site was down for a while. :(

It looks like we are back up and running. I will have the official Big Squid RC Contest drawing later tonight, and will also have the prize page updated with a few new prizes to choose from!

We need to do some site maintenance here. It’s a little scary, there are some BIG updates we need to do for software on this end. If all goes smooth, the readers shouldn’t really notice a change.. maybe a little faster loading speeds. On our end.. it’s a few hundred code files. :\

So if there are a few bumps in the site loading this evening (Sunday) we apologize, and are doing our best to get things under control.

Hey All, in case you were flipping out last night hitting your reload button trying to get to BigSquidRC, it wasn’t you.. it was us. Our ISP had a small network hiccup. Things look to be fixed and up and running.
We not return you to your regularly scheduled program!

Thanks for your support!

YEA! Well, at the moment anyway. If you had some trouble getting to Big Squid RC today, there is some major behind the scenes work going on with our awesome ISP. Besides some of the normal work, they are getting ready for a big server/system move either Thursday night, or this weekend. What’s this mean? It means Big Squid RC may be up or down for short periods of time as things get moved and fixed. In the long run, it means faster speed and service! Faster = Good! So please don’t mind the construction dust.
