THE Racers Edge Prime 7.4v 2S 100C 6500mAh LiPo Battery Review

Racers Edge LiPo Battery Review

With today’s high powered brushless systems a quality battery can make all the difference between having a really good day, or a really bad one. A good battery can not only make your truck faster and give longer runtimes, but can also supply enough current to help prevent cogging. Today we will be taking a very close look at one of the new 100C LiPo packs from Racers Edge. Does their 2S 6500mAh LiPo put out good power? Does it give long runtimes? Can it take the abuse of being bashed hard? Hit the “Read More” button to find out…

Racers Edge EZ80 Charger Review

With loads of chargers under the $80 price point, how does one make a dent in the market? By putting out a solid charger and having it seen on places like BigSquidRC of course. The crew over at Racers Edge shot us their EZ80 Multi-Chemistry Battery Charger to try, here is what we found out.

The EZ80 uses a menu that is reminiscent of a number of other chargers on the market, thus it was easy for most of our testers to use. Testers that were not familiar with the menu found it easy to learn, except for one, Iron Mike, who did have to glance at the manual one time to figure out how to properly set the charger for his battery pack.

We used the charger on a number of different packs, but mainly on 2S and 4S Racers Edge LiPOs and an ECX 7 cell Ni-MH RTR pack. We found the quality of the charger was good. All the LiPo packs we charged felt like they had good power after being charged on the EZ80, and the Ni-MH didn’t false peak and had good power after a charge.

With a street price of just over $60, the EZ80 charges a wide variety of cell chemistries and has an easy to read screen. It’s also AC/DC, so you can use it at the house or use the 12 volt battery in your full size car to power it at the local bash spot. Its maximum charge rate is 6 amps, which is on point for a charger in this price range. The EZ80 can charge up to a 6S LiPO pack, something not all chargers in its price range can do, and it comes with a bunch of different connectors, making it easy to charge just about anything without having to solder up an adapter.

We used the EZ80 for several weeks and found it to be a solid charger, thus we can recommend it to you. To get more details simply click This Link over on the HRP Distributing website.

Racers Edge PRIME 30 Amp Power Supply
When you need to charge big battery packs at a high rate, you have to have a beefy power supply, and needless to say we charge a lot of battery packs around the BigSquidRC offices. A few weeks ago the folks over at Racers Edge sent us their new PRIME 30 Amp Power Supply to check out (read- abuse), here is what we found out.

The PRIME 30 worked great for us. We continually used a pair of Hyperion 720iNet3 chargers on it, charging a pair of MaxAmps 2S 6500mAh Lipo packs each at 20 amps (336 watts total), and it didn’t overheat or go into protection mode. The PRIME is rated for 540 watts, so we weren’t even close to pushing it hard.

The voltage is adjustable via a knob on the top of the power supply from 12-18 volts DC. The display is backlit, making it easy to read in dark areas, and it shows how much current is being pulled.

The PRIME comes with a pair of USB outputs which come in mighty handy when charging your cell phone.

The PRIME 30 is stiffly regulated, we only measured a .1 drop in output voltage when drawing over 300 watts.

Perhaps the best thing about the PRIME 30 is its fan. The fan only comes on when needed, and even when it kicks on it is one of the quieter units on the market.

After a few weeks of abuse the PRIME 30 is still working like new for us, we highly recommend you try one out if you are in the market for a new power supply. The part number is #RCEPS30, it has a street price of $129, and you can get more information at This Link.

Racers Edge Pro4 Enduro Unboxing
Racers Edge is known mainly for their aftermarket accessories, but they have cars too. Today we are bringing you unboxing pictures of their new Pro4 Enduro truck. The Enduro is a 10th scale, 4wd short course truck that comes fully assembled and ready to jam right out of the box. The thing that immediately caught our attention was the fact it has a street price of $359 and comes with a brushless power system already installed.

When unboxing the Enduro we noticed that it comes with a protective film over the body to make sure it arrives unscratched. We also noticed that the Enduro looks good in hand, the body is sharp, and the chassis looks ready for a good off-road pounding. Also of note, the chassis is extra stiff, due at least in part to its full top deck.

Take a look at our unboxing pictures below to see exactly what it looks like to pop a new Enduro out of the box. Be sure to click the “Read More” button for two additional unboxing galleries.
