I think everyone who’s looking to bulletproof their Traxxas Mini E-Revo already knows that RPM makes some must own a-arms, but I bet you didn’t know they now come in red! I guess it’s a little test on their part to see if people are interested in the red color. I have a feeling they will be. Upper and lower a-arms come in a set for front or rear.
Visit the RPM RC site for details.
Looks like the Traxxas Slash 4X4 is going to be even stronger! RPM has just released a Rear Bumper for the Slash 4X4. It’s molded after full size short course trucks, it makes it easy to get to the a-arms, they incorporated a 35% thicker skid plate, and even has a place to mount your rear LED lights! They come in Blue, Black and Chrome.

Ok Traxxas Slash 4×4 owners, looks like you have another item for your weekend shopping list! RPM has just released a Front Bumper and Skid Plate combo for the Traxxas Slash 4×4! They come in Grey/Chrome, Black, or Blue. The bumpers also work with the RPM Canister light set.

We know the HPI Blitz has really been taking the world by storm lately, and I’m glad to see it, as it really is a awesome vehicle. I’m also very glad to see other companies stepping up and making after market hop-up parts for it. RPM is one of those companies who now has front and rear a-arms for the Blitz. Note, these arms will also fit the Blitz ESE, Firestorm 10T, E-Firestorm, and E-Firestorm Flux!
Visit the RPM RC site for details.
I have been seeing more and more light sets show up at bashes and at the track, and it looks like RPM is riding that wave. They now have a Narrow Roof-Mounted Light Bar. They had a pretty cool 6 canister light bar previously, but it didn’t fit all vehicles. Their new narrow version will even fit the Traxxas Mini Slash! All you need is a 4 inch body width on top to be able to mount this new bar. They are available in black or chrome.
Remember the light bars do NOT come with lights or LED’s. Those you will need to supply yourself, or pick up a set from someplace like rc-lights.com. (Read our recent review!)

For those that bought the front A-Arms for their Mini E-Revo from RPM recently, they have now announced their Rear Upper and Lower A-Arms for the Mini E-Revo are on their way! So if you are looking to make your Mini E-Revo even more Bash Proof, RPM has you covered! They come in blue or black, and in a set of four (upper and lower rears).

For those people looking to continue to bullet proof their Team Associated SC10, RPM is now offering their front bumper system. It’s a three piece design with a unique chassis brace. The brace bolts to the bottom, then the added RPM Skid Plate, and finally their front bumper which can also use the same can/light system RPM has put out for the Traxxas Slash! You can never go wrong with a RPM upgrade, so if you are looking to beef up your SC10, this is probably a good start!
Check out the RPM RC site for details.
For anyone looking to beef up their Team Associated SC10 or T4, RPM is now shipping their new Rear A-Arms for your vehicle. The new a-arms are 25% thicker, and have addressed some of the hinge pin issues with the stock a-arms. You can never go wrong with RPM upgrades, so if you are thinking you need a little more muscle, check out the RPM RC site for details.
For those who are really into the scale look, and trying to give the Traxxas Slash all the short course realism they can, RPM RC is now shipping their new Rear Tail Light set for their Traxxas Slash rear bumper! Note these do NOT come with the LED’s! You will need to come up with the actual lights on your own, but these will provide a sweet looking housing that works with their nice bumper set already. You can also adapt these to other vehicles if you are looking for something a little more then just LED’s.

Long time no see, but welcome back to yet another edition of the industries most litigated opinion column, THE Cub Report.
So what’s the scoop on some of the newest product releases? Well, let’s just dive right in.
RPM is in the Big Squid RC Basher Approved hall of fame. They are one of the few companies that actually have their heads screwed on right, making good looking, good fitting, and no hassle product. Well, they recently shot out pics of their new Slash rear bumper/Mud Flap combos. Awesome, just awesome! I hope they sell a zillion of them. One step closer to realism, with the uber reliability of RPM. If you’ve been watching the 1:1 Torc series races on ESPN, you’d notice the only major cosmetic difference between your Slash and those racing on tv is the lack of mudflaps. The RPM bumper/mupflap combo is just what your Slash needs.
Seen the new Traxxas teaser video? Pretty much any type of “teaser” makes me want to have rabid multi-orfice fun with a porcupine excited now days. With that said, I give the new Traxxas teaser vid a B-. Slick production, but just slightly above average as far as general hype goes. I figured they would have waited to unveil their new beast at iHobby, as you could do one hell of a cool intro in front of the masses, but I hear they’ll be unveiling yet another platform at the show.
Big Props go out to Traxxas and RC Pro Series for their support of Rick “Too Hip” Johnsons Torc series. Awesome tracks, all the big name players, decent tv package, and Traxxas is plastered everywhere. Most media exposure ever for our industry. Even if you aren’t into short course racing, try to catch one of the 1:1 Torc races on the tube.
Horizon released info on a left hand thread kit for their 8 and 8T series of 8th scalers. What this boils down to is a few left hand screws for 5 bucks that should have been a running change on the new kits, but are being sold as a hop up. The HPI/Hot Bodies 8 series buggies and truggy come standard with these, cost far less, and won the worlds last year. Hummmm… wonder what the better value is.
Speaking of HPI/Hot Bodies- their Blitz’s are almost here! Get on the pre-order list at your LHS ASAP.
RC Pro Products released info on their uber new 8th scale wheel wrench. Nice to see a product designed by actual common sense racers, built to last, works correctly, that doesn’t empty the bank account. Quality tools are worth their weight in gold, thankfully, the RC Pro Products have all the quality but not the insane price tag.
Every JConcepts body I’ve ever seen looked uber trick. All their bodies for “race” type vehicles are really cool. Sadly, JConcepts has released pics of their new Slash body called the BAJR. Lets say you took the top off a VW body, the rear off a quad racer body, and the front off a Herbst truggy body, then molded them all into one- then you’d have the JConcepts BAJR. Wow. Like, you gotta be kidding me kinda fugly. If you want to turn your good looking Slash in a sort of Martian Turd looking machine, the BAJR is the body for you. Excuse me while I wash my eyes out with battery acid.
Well folks, you made it to the end of yet another Cub Report. Thanks for reading, and please get out and support your LHS’s and local tracks.

With the new rage being more ’scale looking’ RC’s, it seems only fitting that somone would be doing mud flaps for the slash. Well RPM RC has stepped up to the plate and created some! The new RPM Traxxas Slash Mud Flaps work with the new RPM Rear Bumper only. They do not work with the stock or other aftermarket rear bumpers.. so keep that in mind.
Check out the RPM RC site for details.
Recently there was a news post abut the the new Traxxas Slash Bumpers from RPM RC, and I’m sure there was a ton of people asking, why only the front? Well..today that answer has been given.. in the form of a new product! The RPM Traxxas Slash Rear Bumper! It’s 18% lighter than the stock one, probably stronger, and looks like they provide a TON of coverage! That will come in handy during those demo derby times! Available in black, chrome and blue.
Check out the RPM RC site for details.
Recently we talked about the new Traxxas Slash Bumpers from RPM RC, well they now have the Light Canister set available that fits their bumpers! This is a pretty cool setup that fits 3mm LED’s. You can add up to 4 LED lights to your bumper for some sweet night action! Note: the LED’s do NOT come with the Canister set.
Looks like RPM RC has another MUST OWN product coming out! The Traxxas Slash Front Bumper and Skid Plate. It’s a two piece design that eliminates a bunch of screws, drops some weight, and I’m sure it’s like everything else RPM - Strong and Durable! The sets come in black, blue, or Chrome/Gray. They start shipping soon, so start looking for them at your local hobby shop next week.
RPM RC has just sent word that their Black Revolver 2.2″ Truck wheels now have a few more options. They now have rear wheels for Associated 1/10th scale trucks and Kyosho Ultima ST. Front Wheels for Associated 1/10th scale trucks and Kyosho Ultima ST, and front wheels for the TRaxxas Nitro Rustler, Nitro Stampede and Nitro Sport. The advantage of the molded black is that when it scratches up, you don’t really see it because it’s black all the way through.
As I mentioned before the prizes for the Big Squid RC Contest are still rolling in! We just got a few great prize packs from RPM Racing! Two Prize Kits include:
Monster Camber Gauge
Bearing Blaster
2.0, 2.5, 3/32 Hex Drivers.
And then we got a set of Front and Rear Skid Plates for the Traxxas Slash! So make sure to get those Fan Pictures in for the contest! I have received a few recently, and will try and get them up on the page shortly, so if you sent some in, hang tight!
Over in our RC Reviews section, pro driver Tim Mohr has just posted a review of the RPM RC Traxxas Slash Rear Bumper Mount! If you have had some issues with your bumper, or even if you just own a Traxxas Slash, you should check out the review!

For all you Traxxas Slash fans, (I think there are a few of you) RPM (who also has a ton of fans!) now has front and rear skid plates for you! They come in standard RPM colors, black, blue, and a new color gray. For those of you have are still reading and haven’t already gotten up and gone out to buy them, hit the MORE down there for the full press release!
RPM skid plates for the Traxxas Slash are designed to eliminate the frustration of broken skid plates and chassis. When a stock rear skid plate fails, it can rip the shock tower mounting screws out of the chassis, causing a catastrophic failure usually resulting in the rear end sailing in a different direction than the rest of the truck. With RPM skid plates mounted, that problem will be a thing of the past!

New from RPM RC is this Motor Protector for the Traxxas Bandit, Rustler, and Stampede. It can work on the Traxxas Slash with the removal of the rear bumper. The idea hear is to help protect the exposed motor, which, if you have bashed with this vehicles and get hit pretty hard. For even more protection, you can mount a second one on the other side to protect the gears. This picture is seen with it while using their Rear Mount we mentioned not that long ago. If you own one of these Traxxas vehicles, you really should looking into these parts.
Gotta love 2009 already. AMA Supercross is the first “big name” racing to kick off the new year, and their season opener last weekend in Anaheim was one for the ages. James Stewart could’a, would’a, should’a PWNED. But, after some brain fade and/or Yamabog, he took out arch rival Chad Reed (and eventually Kevin Windham), and finished the first round with a huge DNF. Reed went on to finish with a damaged front rotor in third place, while Joe Gibbs Racing’s Josh Grant took his first Supercross win. Look for full scale motowar to go off tonight in Phoenix as Stewart is surely going to be in full warpath mode on his new Yamaha. Bubba does not take losing lightly (but then, how does?).
In rc racing, the first big race of the year is always S&N Trackside’s US Touring Car Championships (aka- The Novak Race). To the average rc basher/racer, perhaps it’s not such a big deal, but if you are a carpet racer, it’s easily one of the best, and most professionally handled races of the year. Mains go off tomorrow, best of luck to everyone racing up there in Brookfield WI this weekend. Btw, I heard Wisconsin just got the internet this week, congrats!
Bet ya didn’t know that BigSquidRC is now getting more views than every print mag website except for RCCA’s. Head tentacle Brian S. has been working harder than a Vegas stripper on free samples day, and the huge increase in hits/views is proof positive. Give him another 12 months, and I’m certain BigSquid will reign supreme in the E-zine battle.
On another Brian S. note, rarely does he contact me about rc related items, but I received the wildest phone call from him a couple weeks ago. Why all the fuss? He had just got done testing the big HPI Flux monster truck. He just kept going on and on about how fast that beast is. Brian is normally a gashole, but even he couldn’t resist the charms of an extremely overpowered brushless monster truck. I have yet to drive one, but if Brian raves that much about the power, it’s got to be something “above and beyond”.
The new Castle Creations 8th scale buggy system should be hitting consumer hands in the next few weeks. It features a 2600 kv motor, and the much maligned Monster speedo. But- as with all Castle products, it has a reasonable price point, making that 8th scale conversion of yours a bit more affordable/doable. How well this system goes over will have a lot to do with how many 8th scale coversions are done this year. Let’s hope it’s rock solid.
Tekin released computer renderings of their new 8th scale speedo, and boy does the heat sink/fan set-up look a lot like a piece already on the market. Competition is a good thing, unless it’s just really just one company making them all right?
Know that PITA rear bumper arm that keeps popping off the back of your Traxxas Slash? Well bless the guys at RPM. They have a new uber trick bumper mount that totally fixes that mess. RPM is a basher’s God, putting out the right parts at a decent price that are nearly bulletproof. In the rc dream world that I drift off into each night as I sleep, RPM makes not just hop-up parts, but entire cars. Yes, in my dream world, I drive entire cars made out of that sweet RPM plastic, where hitting curbs WFO on 4S only results in minor scratches. But to get back to the real world, maybe the RPM crew should hire a good car designer/engineer, get a trick looking uber durable design cooked up, and have a go at it. This industry needs less cheap ass Chinese knock-offs, and more good ole’ USA kick ass engineering/design. Just say’n………….
Trinity has put out a Li-po battery warmer. It’s hard for me to even type here because I’m laughing so hard. Yes, warming Li-po cells does give higher voltage under load. But- putting out a dedicated “Li-po wamer” is like committing liability suicide. Hope Ernie puts some miles on his Bentleys, because some sue happy idiot will be driving them next year. I’m still laughing my head off at this one. Why not start selling a high zoot Li-po dead short device as well? How about a flame powered Nitro bottle warmer? I can’t stop laughing, this is gonna get good.
Horizon has released info on their Losi 8IGHT-T version 2.0 truggy. I’m sure it’s all high zoot and fast ect. But is it just me, or is the body on that thing the ugliest I’ve EVER seen? That body is ugly enough to make me want to poke my own eyes out with a hot soldering iron. Damn.
Speaking of ugly bodies, seen the new Parma Mini-Comp Crawler body? Luckily, I already poked out both my eyes with the soldering iron, but I’ve heard it makes that new Losi 8IGHT-T look trick. I dig the guys at Parma, hell even dig their gear, but perhaps another couple hours should be spent on cosmetics before going full bore on the molds?
Pro-Line is the latest entry in the rebate war. Buy more Pro-Line, send’em the receipt, get 10% off. Hell Ya! Goodness knows we spend enough on Pro-Line tires/rims/bodies each year around the BSRC office to keep the owner well stocked on Ferrari parts. The 10% offer is Awesome.
That’s it for this week guys. As always, support your LHS and local tracks! Get off the net, get on the track!
