atomik v2mr

atomik v2mrWe recently received a spy shot of what looked like a new 1/10th scale buggy that we were told was coming from Atomik RC. The shot itself wasn’t the best, so we decided to do a little digging. It looked like Atomik had recently started testing the new buggy, and there were a few more lo-res pictures floating around, with very little info. We made a few phone calls, traded a little info, pulled a few strings, and came up with these. Probably the best pictures yet of the new buggy!

What we know so far, its a 1/10th scale kit. That’s right, a kit! No electronics or tires. It will allow for mid or rear motor mounting, as you can see from the two pictures we have, and looks pretty beefy. We aren’t sure if it’s the official name, or just internal name, but V2MR seems to be stuck to all the stuff we have seen. We have an email into our contacts over at Atomik / Venom, and will get you more details when they are available.

Special thanks to all our spys/informants lately.. keep that stuff coming!

st racing slash 4xr4 chassis

Cubby mentioned that someone sent us some info on a new LCG Chassis for the Traxxas Slash 4×4 being produced by Traxxas that apparently is being tested. Well shortly after someone else sent word that another company is also working on a low center of gravity chassis for the Slash 4×4. We have been told that these are cad drawings from STRC that are being used to lay out their new chassis. We have no idea how far along their chassis is. If it’s still in the ‘cad’ stage, or if it’s already being tested. We have reached out to ST Racing Concepts for more info, and an ‘official word’ but until then, you’ll just have to check out the leaked photos. (Unless they ask us to take them down)

It looks like there is going to be a lot of aluminum and graphite involved. I highly doubt the official Traxxas one will have any graphite, and probably little aluminum.

UPDATE: Adding some fuel to the rumor, our ‘little birdie’ says STRC is aiming for less than $100 when it hits. THAT would be pretty impressive since there are a lot of BIG parts going into a conversion like that. Guess we will wait and see.

proline mystery tire
You don’t stay the leader in tire technology by sitting on your hands, and yesterday the hard working crew over at Pro-Line posted a sneak peak of one of their New Tires. As you can see by the pic their new tire is small pinned for track use, but Pro-Line makes a tire for every terrain, Badlands and Trenchers are some of the favs around the office. Hit up Pro-Line’s WEBSITE to view their entire line-up.

I’m not 100% sure how much of this is actual spy video, or if it’s just a first look promo video from Schumacher Racing, but it’s some footage from a rc track in the UK of the Schumacher 2wd Cougar SV. The buggy looks pretty quick cruising around the crazy carpeted off road track.

Check the official Schumacher Racing site for more details.

Pro-Line caliber short course sc

Check out this teaser of the new Pro-Line Racing sc tire called the Caliber! We don’t have any more details about it then that.. looks pretty cool! I’m sure we’ll have plenty of pics of it from the iHobby show! This must be an early prototype, because the tires don’t even have the familiar Pro-Line logo or name on the sides!

Head over to Pro-Line Racing for more body info!

RC4WD Traxxas Slash Chassis The Traxxas Slash has made a huge impact on our hobby. Even though it may look scale on the outside, the internals of the chassis hardly resemble the full size CORR trucks it takes after. RC4WD and a member of the scale RC community, Katan, are collaborating to change all that. Their creation is the Hardcore Chassis for Slash. Made entirely of aluminum, this chassis conversion is designed to have the Slash front-end bolt on. Not much else of the original truck is retained. The rear axle duty will be handled by a modified Wheelie King unit. The conversion kit is still in development, but it’s cool to see the scale segment of our hobby continue to grow.

CEN Baja Matrix STX So I made a few phone calls to our spys in the trenches and came up with these. I have been told that these are still in testing, and both vehicles may change before we see them for sale. This first vehicle is being called the CEN Baja Matrix STX. It’s a cool new trophy truck from CEN Racing based on the Matrix Buggy platform with a few changes including tires, wheels, body mounts and suspension. I think this will be a fun vehicle at the track for sure!
CEN Monster Truck This next vehicle is a new monster truck! I was asked to not mention the name of the truck because it is still early, and might not end up being the final name. I was told it should be very competitive with the Savage as far as speed, durability and performance goes. It will be running a new Corsa .28 engine which is a new Italian brand of engines! I’m a big fan of the Genesis, so having a smaller version I think could be pretty cool!
