Pro-Line Rock Rage 3.8 Pre-Mounts
We love pre-mounts around the BigSquidRC offices. To us, time used gluing up tires is time wasted, we would rather be out in the parking lot playing demolition derby.

Thankfully Pro-Line makes a bunch of pre-mounted wheels and tires. Their latest pre-mounts are their new Rock Rage 3.8″ on black F-11 wheels. These come with 17mm hexes and a half inch offset making them a perfect fit for Traxxas Revo/T-Maxx/Summit, as well as other monster trucks like the Thunder Tiger MT-4 G3 and eMTA.

The part number for the Pro-Line Rock Rage pre-mounts is #1199-13 and they have a street price of $45. Hit up This Link for complete information over on the official Pro-Line website.

T-Bone Racing Rear A-Arm Skids Traxxas E-Revo
If you are a legit basher you’ve been out running and noticed your truck driving strange, sort of like it was pulling an anchor behind it yet it pulls to one side. Yes, that’s the dreaded branch stuck in an a-arm syndrome.

The crew over at T-Bone Racing have had this issue before too, thus the reason they now make Rear A-Arm Skids for the Traxxas E-Revo. With the skids you can drive in all sorts of nastiness without having to stop and yank sticks out of your a-arms.

The T-Bone skids have a part number of #62135, a street price of $15, and they are available right now. Hit up This Link for more information.

STRC also has new aluminum rear a-arms that fit both the electric Slash 2wd and the Nitro Slash. The rear arms come with delrin inserts and hinge pins with a part number of #ST2555G and are priced at $34.

New for the LCG Slash 4×4 is a heavy duty CNC machine aluminum motor mount. The mount is much beefier than stock and is available in a range of different colors. The part number is #ST7460 and it has a street price of $39.

Vaterra Twin Hammers 1.9 Rock Racer Review

So I opened up the old email box this evening and I had several emails asking if I knew what was up with the Vaterra Twin Hammers being recalled. I thought the first letter was just someone messing around, but then after the third similar email I decided to do a little contacting myself! After a few phone calls, a friend emailed me a letter that was apparently sent to all retailers.

“Dear Retailer:
You are receiving this notice because you purchased one or more of the following Horizon Hobby products.

VTR03000 Twin Hammers 1.9 Rock Racer RTR

VTR234004 Front Rocker Arm Set: TWH

VTR334002 Rocker Set Aluminum: TWH

Due to an intellectual property dispute regarding U.S. Patent No. 7,887,074, owned by Traxxas LP, Horizon Hobby is requesting that all retailers with effected items received before June 8, 2013, return unsold product to Horizon. Offering to sell and selling the effected items may expose you to a claim of patent infringement.Contact Horizon Hobby Customer Service to set up a return for credit. (All effected items shipped after June 8, 2013 have had the rocker arm modified.)

Revised product will be available shortly and any backorders will be filled with the modified product. “

We never like hearing about stuff like this, but it happens. We’d file it under the rumor mill, but a bunch of my sources have confirmed it. At least it’s only a recall from hobby shop stock. Since we don’t know any of the details yet, I will hold off on any comments. Hopefully Vaterra can make a quick fix and get them back out on the shelves!

Traxxas EZ-Peak NiMH/NiCd 5 Amp AC/DC Charger Review

So you just bought a new RTR and it came with a battery and a wall charger. Wall chargers are notoriously slow and you would much rather be out driving than waiting around for the battery to charge. To get you back on track quicker Traxxas has a new charger called the EZ-Peak 5 Amp. How well does it work? Is it worth the cash? Hit the “Read More” button to find out…

While we were hanging out at the Traxxas TORC Series over the weekend, we ran into Justin Folkman and his son Jason. They were working on their Short Course Kart, and it caught our attention.
I’m not sure what scale you would call it, but it’s almost 1/2 scale. What really surprised us is that Jason is the driver, and he’s about seven or eight years old! For those looking to get a early start into the racing scene, this seems like a great place to start! They are built tough, just like the full scale ones, but much cheaper and with less power to keep them safer.

There were two trucks at the event doing a demo racing around, and they mentioned that they are looking to do their own series starting next year! If you or your kids are looking to get into the off-road race scene, these things were cool. They cost around $8,300 (A LOT less than a regular truck), and are built out of Green Bay, WI. You can get all the information over at the Folkman Inc. Website. So check them out.

Note the Big Squid RC sticker near the door! Looks like we are starting to sponsor the big boys just like Traxxas! Hey you need to start somewhere right? :)

Pro-Line Extended Body Mounts Traxxas Revo Summit
One of our favorite innovations of the last couple of years has been the Pro-Line Thumbwasher sets. These replace traditional body clips and won’t fall off and get lost during a hard bash session. They also help keep your body from ripping out around the body post.

The Pro-Line crew has incorporated their Thumbwasher sets into their new Extended Body Mounts for the Traxxas Revo/Summit platform and for Losi SCTE and XXX-SCT/22 SCT. You can now get the benefits of the Pro-Line Thumbwashers plus extended body mounts that allow you to mount a variety of aftermarket bodies.

The Pro-Line extended body mounts for Traxxas run $14 and you can find more information Right HERE. The body mounts for Losi cost around $12 and you can get information at THIS LINK on the Pro-Line website.

Pro-Line Big Joe II 3.8
The original Pro-Line Big Joes had a reputation for being a big gnarly basher tire, the latest edition, Big Joe II’s, are sure to become a bashing favorite too.

Pro-Line made the Big Joe II’s lighter than the original for faster acceleration and less stress on your drive train. They also gave the Big Joe II a more aggressive tread pattern for even better traction. Also of note, the Big Joe II’s use a 3.8″ Traxxas style bead, meaning there are already a bunch of different wheels on the market that will fit.

The Big Joe II’s come in M2 compound and their part number is #1198-00 while street price for a pair is $35. Simply click THIS LINK to get more information over on the official Pro-Line website.
