Activision just announced that their new Call of Duty: Blacks Ops Prestige Edition will come with the RC-XD vehicle that can be used in the game! You know how we love our RC and video game crossovers! It looks like it even has an on-board camera! The Prestige Edition will cost you about $150, but if the car is anywhere near usable, it will make it worth it! Thanks to reader nvrmor for the heads up!

Some say that he’s never seen his own reflection. Others claim that he may actually be Cubby! All we know is, he’s called The Stig!
Hmm.. some how, two of my favorite things, “Top Gear” and RC, just don’t mix as well as I thought they would. Top Gear, for those that don’t know is an AMAZING car show from England. If you haven’t seen it, Google or Youtube it, then expect to loose a few afternoons. If you do know what I’m talking about, with their amazing test driver called ‘The Stig’, some how someone thought his famous helmet would make a great RC Helicopter. I guess part of me sort of wants one, but part of me is going ‘Why a copter?!’
Anyway.. if your interested in all the details click this link to http://www.takoonkites.com/ and get your Test Flight on.
TQ Racing Products has thrown their hat in the short course ring. The SX10SC is a purpose built factory racer that comes as an almost ready-to-run race roller. The truck comes loaded with all kinds of pieces that would be considered aftermarket on most other trucks. A body is also included, but no clue what it looks like, they didn’t provide a photo of that. All it’s missing is electronics and tires, get those and you’re good to go.
Normally I’d point you to the TQ Racing Products web site for more info, but it’s horribly out of date and there’s no mention of the SC there anyway. But if you click through to their shop and go under the Cars/Trucks RTR – Elec
section you can see some of their future plans. Which include a fully RTR version with brushless running gear and a 4wd version dubbed the SX10SC-4. Check out some of the pics below.

We don’t post a lot of RC Race information, but when we get a race with a good cause, we do whatever we can to help. I recently got some information from Medina RC Raceway about their Diabetes Charity Race on August 7th in Medina Ohio. 100% of the proceeds from the raffles at the race will go to the American Diabetes Association. So if you are in the area, stop by for some racing, buy some raffle tickets and help a good cause!
Looks like Cubby forgot to close the hamster cage again.. and they all made a run for it!
As punishment, we have hooked the hamster wheel up to Cubby’s bike, and making him peddle till we catch the hamsters!
Sorry for the down time.
Hey Folks.. sorry for the lack of BSRC.. there was a HUGE storm that rolled through where our ISP is located, and knocked out power to the whole place.
Anyway.. it looks like we are back up! Keep your fingers crossed the squirrels don’t get tired!

The Voodoo Modified guys sent word today that they’ve uploaded some videos to their Facebook page showing off one of their modified engines. These videos are showing an LRP ZR30X engine with a VooDoo Modified Ballistic mod. The insane power from the modification makes the car do wheelies when hitting second gear and it almost does a standing backflip at the starting line.
Unforunately I can’t embed the videos, so you’ll have to hit up Voodoo Modified’s Facebook page to check them out.
Just a reminder that they are having a 10% off special for a short time. You can get the coupon code from their Facebook page.

So last weekend I’m looking through the newspaper, cutting coupons or something when I get to the Bass Pro Shop ad. I flip it open and right there on the inside is a picture of one of those 1/18th or 1/28 scale micro X-Mod style tracks, you know the ones with the red and black floor tiles. Under the picture it says bring the kids to come race on our RC track! WOW I thought to myself.. this is pretty cool Bass Pro Shop is hip to the RC scene? And thinks showing it off will bring in people? I have to go check this out! So I grab Mini Squid (my four year old) and head down to the store. We go inside, the place is packed! After looking for the track for while, I finally find an employee who tells me the track is setup outside, around the side. AWESOME! This is gonna rock! So we venture outside, walk around and ‘ta da’. Possibly the most pathetic attempt at RC I have ever scene. Where’s the XMods track? Where’s the 10 cars it showed in the pic?! They had two cars. The Nikko Fast and the Furious vehicles! Not even the 10th scale ones.. these were like 1/18th scale.
The lady walks up to me and says ‘Would your son like to try one?’ Even my four year old looked disappointed. LOL. She hands him the controller, and says ‘Please don’t crash into the sides, these cars break easy’. Ok.. seriously? You just handed a 4 year old a RC vehicle, and told him not to crash? To make it worse, these cars sucked so bad, the turning radious wasn’t tight enough to actually make a turn on the track without backing up! Mini Squid lasted about 10 seconds before running into a wooden barrier. The bumper fell off, and the hood popped open! I laughed. The lady seemed really upset that I let it happen. I brought the car over.. closed the hood, and sent it back out. 20 seconds later..crash… pop! Now she’s pissed! haha.. This goes on for about 2 minutes then Mini Squid hands me the controller, and says ‘this car doesn’t work’. I drive it back around.. fix the hood.. hand the lady back the controller and we walk away.
Now it’s not her fault that the toys suck, or even that the track sucked.. but someone somewhere down the line had a epic fail. I appreciate the fact that a company so big would entertain the thought of RC vehicles bringing in the people, great job on getting the word out about RC, but then to hand people these junk toys? Come on now.. A for Idea.. D for effort!
Now here’s something that will make every electric driver’s life a lot easier. It’s the Ultimate Solder Jig from STL Custom Hobbies. The jig is made to hold most every type of connector firmly for quick and easy soldering. It’s got an adjustable spring clamp and an insert with slots for holding Dean’s Ultra Plugs, Losi EC3, Traxxas High-Current Connectors (just the gold tab, not the whole thing), and others. If you turn it on it’s side it’s got holes to hold various sizes of bullet connectors. The whole thing is milled out of 6061 aluminum and then it’s black anodized. The aluminum will also help keep the connector cool while you solder so that you don’t melt the plastic casing.
This is definately a cool little tool that any electric driver should be adding to their tool box. You can pick one up direct from STL for $49. Check out STL’s site for more info.
Check out these new tire inserts from Italian outfit Veggoplastrc. They’re quite strange looking aren’t they? One of the bullet points for the Airbags (which, curiously, don’t actually appear to be filled with air…) is that there’s zero centrifugation.
Now I don’t know what that means, but it’s a big word and there’s zero of it, so I’m assuming that’s good. Some other features are water resistance, durability, and perfect balance.
The Airbag inserts will also come in three compounds, red for soft, yellow for medium, and green for hard. Right now they’re only available for 1/8 scale buggies. This is a whole new idea for tire inserts, the big question is how well will they work?
Check out the Veggoplastrc web site for more info.
There’s nothing worse than crud building up in your chassis. So Fastrax has decided to help you out if you have an SC10. They’ve got a new underbody available in PVC that’s printed to look like carbon fiber, or in clear lexan for those of you that prefer your look to be a little more custom.
Check the Fastrax web site for a litte more info.
Hobby Media snapped a pic of a new prototype rear suspension setup from Yokomo. Right now all we know is that it’s a single shock setup with the shock placed laterally between the suspension arms. The Hobby Media guys say they’re going to try to pry some info from the Yokomo staff in the coming days, but they are speculating that this might be for a new front motor, front wheel drive car coming from Yokomo. Click through to their site for a larger picture.
Here’s a quick and easy way to add a bit of scale realism to your 1/10 or 1/8 scale cars and trucks. LunaTik Engineering’s Scale Window Nets can be installed easily on pretty much any vehicle, attach it to a roll cage with screws or zip ties, or you can glue it to the body with some Shoe-Goo or whatever. These nets would look great on all those short course trucks out there. They measure about 2.5″ wide by 3.25″ tall and are easily trimmed for a custom fit. You have your choice of blue, red, black, or yellow and each pack comes with two nets.
These are exclusively distributed through TGN Distributing, so check out their site for more info.
Who has an awesome looking line of r/c bags? Dialed Inc. does! Check out these compact travel bags for various types and sizes of r/c cars, tires, and fluids. Dialed has constructed their bags out of polyester to make them durable and easy to keep clean and all of them feature strong nylon handles. The tire bags come with either cans or strong zip lock bags to keep your stuff organized. These look to be some high quality goods. If you’re in the market for some new travel bags you might want to give them a look.
For some more info about these and all the other bags they offer, be sure to check out the Dialed Inc. web site.
