Here’s some video we shot while testing out our new Platinum Edition Traxxas Slash 4×4 in the snow! Good times! The video on Youtube is also uploaded there in hi-def!
Enjoy!
For those of you who just want to see good quality video in the player, the ihobby video is now up on HobbyZip.com as well! Their embedded player stuff always looks better, and they have good RC vids there, so make sure to check it out.. don’t forget to rate it!
Finally, video of our demo times! For those of you that missed the awesome demos we were giving at the iHobby Expo 2009, now you can see what all the fuss was about.
Not only did we hit the track banner this year, we jumped OVER it, AND got a vehicle stuck up in the rafters!!! Some note worthy parts in the vid, the yellow 1/18th scale pulling a triple back flip, the crowd starting the banner chant on their own, obviously getting stuck in the rafters, the 1/8 buggy slamming into the SC truck on the way up, and still making it over the banner. I turned all the volumes way down, it was amazing how loud the place was this year!
Thanks to all of our fans for coming out and making it a great show! You guys rocked!
Thanks to Channel 9 news for the mention! Anna is probably one of our new biggest fans!
When I posted the video, it was still processing the HD version, but it was shot and should be ready to view in true HD shortly. Please rate/vote for the video. Rendering a smaller version for hobbyzip viewers asap.
We had the new Traxxas 1/16 E-Revo out for some testing, and had a great time with the vehicle! So far it’s been pretty durable, and it’s darn fast out of the box!
Stock Battery - 30mph
2S Lipo - 34mph
4S Lipo - 49mph!
Remember the standing backflip video from the HPI Savage Flux? The E-Revo can also do it pretty easily, forward and reverse! Enjoy the video! There is also a HD version over on youtube.
Hope ya like it! Here’s the link to the YouTube version in HD if you want to check it out.
Added The youtube directly, since iphones and other none-flash based systems couldn’t see the above video directly. Don’t forget to go check it out in HD! Looks pretty good.
Wow! This in nuts, and also pretty dang cool! How the heck do you know what one is yours? I have been flying with just a few planes in the air and gotten distracted.. what a cool event! Also.. just think about how impossible this would of been just a few years ago with AM/FM only!
Just caught this over at our Italian friends site Modellismo Hobby Media. A video of the New 1/16th Scale Traxxas Mini Slash in Action! Was it always 4WD? Enjoy!
No idea where the original video came from or was uploaded to, if anyone knows, feel free to let me know. Would rather give them credit.
note: Someone sent me an email with a link for the original video, so you can check it out and download it RIGHT HERE.
So we were doing some testing over at the Leisure Hours track, when it came time to pull out the HPI Savage Flux! I could tell people were excited to check out the truck, heck half the track cleared when I got out there, and people from the pits came out to watch! After a quick test lap I started to open it up a little. I could tell everyone wanted me to pull the trigger! I got to the back straight that had this huge triple that nobody was making! I closed my eyes and pulled! To my amazement, and everyone’s jaw dropping I pulled a sweet back flip while clearing the whole jump! Next time I’ll have to keep my eyes open, I heard it looked awesome!
There is also a HD test version posted up on YouTube that you can check out HERE! I hope it works.
While out doing a little parking lot bashing, we got out the HPI Savage Flux and tossed in two 3S Max Amps packs! The power we got from these packs was awesome! The parking lot was too small for some WOT (wide open throttle) action, but fun was still had! It was tough to keep any wheels on the ground. Rolling about 20-30mph, a pull of the trigger would flip you right over! I can’t wait to get back to the track with these batteries! Hopefully we get a few more dry days out here so we can find a dry lot for some speed runs!

Last weekend, a few of us were out looking for a dry parking lot to bash in when we came across this semi-frozen lake. We knew that someone had to get out there, just most of us were chicken. Luckily Bill (Firesprink281) was brave enough to get out there with his Traxxas Slash. He was running a Novak Brushless that he ’sort of’ water proffed. We were all glad there was no need to form a rescue crew, though for a few seconds there we thought we might. In classic form, Pro Driver Tim Mohr says ‘If you don’t have any problems, were all gonna be out there’ and pretty much right on cue, Bill gets stuck to the crowds ‘uh-oh!’.. good times.

Here is a video review of the Gears of War 2 Centaur Tank from Best Buy that you could get with the special edition pre-order OR buy outright for $30. I’ll post up a full web review later today, but I wanted to share the video review with everyone since that part is done and ready to go. Basically it’s junk. It’s one of the worst RC vehicles I have ever seen or touched, and I have seen a ton of them. This is worse then any cheap Toys R’ Us vehicle you could ever buy! Do NOT buy one of these!
We made it! The first Big Squid RC video ever posted to YouTube now has over 2 million views!
Wow! It’s awesome to be able to support not only the RC Drag Racing community, but just the overall RC community! A few months back I was in line for food at motorcycle stunt show, I had my Big Squid RC T-Shirt on, and the guy behind me taps me on the shoulder and says ‘Hey Dude.. I have seen your videos on the net! Nice Job!’ Now, I get that now and then when I’m at a RC event, but at a non-rc event? That was too cool!
Thanks to our millions (literally) of fans who suport us, watched the video, and voted!
Brian
Here it is, the video of Nic Case’s 161.76mph run. At the moment, this is the World’s Fastest RC car run! If you scroll down below the embedded video, we have a local higher res version. This car was movin! It’s pretty short, hopefully we’ll get one with a few more angles.
There is also a local, higher res version located here:

Ok, this has been long over due, and I finally have it started! I am currently working on a new version of the Videos page! Everything from RC Drag Racing, RC Monster Trucks, RC Cars, RC Drifting and Bashing to contest drawings is being collected into one place!
It’s going to take a few days to get all the videos together.. they have been really spread out. After that, I’m going to try and get them in some sort of order, and work on better descriptions. Wish me luck! lol
For now, head over to the NEW RC Videos section and take a look! There are probably a few you have missed.
More coming soon!
Here is the link for the Hi-Def version of the video I recently uploaded. This is from the first Lynwood Dragway event of the year. It was also the first event shot with the new Hi-Def camcorder! The video is zipped, and around 40 meg. It’s in mp4 format. If you don’t think you can watch such a video, check out the online version HERE! It’s in flash format. Enjoy!

I finally had a few days to put together a full video from the Lynwood Dragway event opener a few months back! This was one of the first videos shot with the new Hi-Def camcorder! I’ll try and have a real hi-def version to download soon, but this one looks pretty darn good! This was an official Midwest RC Drag Racing event.
Thanks to everyone for all their support, this was a good time for sure! Feel free to discuss in the official Midwest RC Drag Racing Forum!
Wow, what a great event! First off, I would like to thank all the awesome companies that helped provide prizes for the event!
HPI Racing, Duratrax, Parma, O’Donnell Racing, XXX Main, and ofcourse Leisure Hours Hobbies!
I would also like to thank John (from Leisure Hours Raceway) for doing an awesome job on the microphone, also Bill (Firesprink281), Chris (thenewguy812), Jodie, Josh (xirtic), and everyone else who helped make the event happen.
One of the coolest things about this event was all the different types of RC’ers that made the trip out to the event. We had the die hard bashers, a bunch of newbies and even pro-driver Tim Mohr! Most of these people have never even set foot at a race rc race track, and I think a lot of them will be back. We saw both nitro and electric trucks, with all sorts of makes and models, and towards the end of the event we had over 50 spectators enjoying the long jump action! This was cool for 2 reasons. 1) It’s a ton of fun as a driver to hear a big crowd of people ‘Ohh-ing’ and ‘Ahh-ing’, and B) A lot of these people got to see how fun RC can be, and will hopefully go out, buy some vehicles, and get into the hobby. I know I had several people ask me about specific trucks, and advice one what their first should be.
The first event was the monster truck obstacle course. (See the video after the read-more) The course consisted of some wooden whoop-di-doo’s, a big jump, some smaller ramps, a slalom, and the final table top challenge. I honestly didn’t think the table top was going to be as difficult as it turned out to be, but it sure did keep things exciting! The final part consisted of a split ramp and split table with two orange cones on the end. The first truck to run the obstacle course and touch one of the cones was the winner for that round. We ran a bracket style race with each section running for the best 2 out of 3.
After the obstacle course, it was time for RC Monster Truck Soccer! We had a nicely decorated ball (thanks Mini Squid!) and with a little work, we were able to work out the frequencies so that everyone who wanted to participate in the soccer event was able to do it at once! This proved a little insane! We every r/c monster trucks all on the field at once, all supposedly trying to get the ball into their goal. I say supposedly because most of the pile ups we no where near the ball!
The red team won with a sudden death goal!
We then went inside to draw the raffle prizes and allow people to make repairs before the death long jump competition. I can’t thank the event sponsors enough! We had some of the greatest prizes an event like this has ever seen! We had a HPI Savage XL, a Duratrax RT-X 27, and 3 (yes three!) HPI 4×4 Wheely Kings, t-shirts, banners, tools, temp gauges, bodies, dvd’s, and more!
Pro-Driver Tim Mohr and John did the ticket drawing for the event, and we made sure that everyone that attended walked away with a prize!
We also had plaques for the winners of the long jump, obstacle course, and winning goal!
Last up was the LONG JUMP! The ramp was huge, and this truly was a ‘Go Big, or Go Home!’ event!
We are talking SERIOUS air here! Easily 40 feet high, and over 65 feet distances! Many trucks survived to make two passes, and the crowed showed their appreciation with cheering the brave drivers on!
The weather was perfect, everyone told me they had a great time, and are looking forward to the next one, and a lot of people got introduced to the world of RC. You really can’t ask for better than that!
If you didn’t make it out to this event, I hope to see you out at the next one! Thanks to everyone who came out and helped make the day special!
Keep an eye on the Big Squid RC news page for details! If you have any suggestions for events you would like to see, drop me an email!

Here’s another short video from the RC Drag Racing event a few weeks back at Lynwood Drag Way. This is Pro Driver, Tim Mohr’s rail catching some air from just going a little too fast. Amazingly enough, the race was also super close… if only it stayed on the ground!
