A couple of months ago I contacted a gentleman from the World of Wheels car show about the possiblity of having a area where we could display a few rc drag cars with the intention of getting this side of the rc hobby some much needed exposure. I explained what we did and how the cars were scaled versions of the real thing......he was very receptive and and asked if it was possible for us( Lynwood RC Drag) to put together a exhibition. I of course said sure we can. I sent him a dvd and a short letter as he requested and waited.......and waited. I called him a few times and left messages and awaited a response. No call.............then a about a week and a half ago he called me and said he was sorry he had not called, he apparently had been travaling to the other event cities. He had the general manager call me and they wanted us to come out if we could get it together with the short notice. I am happy to report that we pulled it off!!! They had us use a area that the free-style motorcyle show was using to perform their show. They had the concrete treated with cola syrup and misted with vht, it was sticky for sure. The area was about 140 feet by 50 feet so we set up the tree and sensors for about 40 feet only so that we would be able to stop. The exhibitions were a HUGE success with people filling the bleachers and standing three or four deep. During the show we gave the guy's a break to charge and clean the cars and had young boys and girls come in give it a try. My wife Liz would walk the child to the starting line,I would explain how the tree and radio worked and Kevin Moore would introduce them to the spectators before their pass. The car they were making the passes with was my electric Grand Motorsports P/S with the school bus body on it .....this went over BIG!!!! Parents were snapping pictures and some of the WOW big wigs had made their way over to the area and said they were extremely happy with the responses and the crowd that the demo's had generated. I want to mention that there was a lot people that came to look at the cars while they were on display and we ran out of flyiers(about 300 i think) on which our race schedule was printed along with a few websites including this one for information on rc drag racing. I will post some pictures of the event as soon as I get them from the guys. I want to thank Liz,Karen,Jerry,Marlene,Kevin,Wil,Kurt,Don,Eric,Billy,Ed,Arvin,Marus and the rest of the Lynwood crew that helped to make this a success. BTW this years Chicago World of Wheels had 780 show car-bike-truck-race car entrants
