This is one that is killing me.
It seems that everyone wants a boat pipe from some dream that it alone will rocket their car into the 1.7 and 1.8 ET slots. There is no doubt in my mind that if used correctly it will help. Now think about it, the guys that are running 1.8 and 1.7's was doing that before they stuck a boat pipe in their cars.
Note: This is not a ploy to get info from MP so please don't reply? It is simply to get out the opinion's of the guys who want to run them. Because there is a place for a boat pipe and I will show you that place.

Crap.. and here I was going to install a boat pipe on my electric car over the winter just to see what it would do.

In all truthfullness, a good Boat pipe can help but the factors that we as drag racers are dealing with are not feesable. When you hear a killer engine get on the pipe it is a sound that you can't mistake. But getting on the pipe takes a little time, something we drag racers don't have. Toss in a two-speed tranny, now your engine has to get on it twice in under two seconds. that leave us with the fact that you might get on the pipe with one gear or the other, but it would take a insane amount of testing, cutting and fitting to make it work. So without the homework you might make your car fall on it's face . And all in all we in the MidWest still have to figure out how to get to the impressive numbers before we out do anything better. My mind is boiling with ideas to get me in the constant 1.7 range and this year I know I'm going to do it, and when we all get to the 1.7s then it is time to get with new ideas to better that.
I'm not being a smart ass but trust me I do know how a boat pipe works and it does'nt work by just jammin it in there.
And by the way(just trust me because I said it) my son pushed his Tonka Truck to a 1.13 E.T. @ 127mph the other week, and yes he had a boat pipe on it with a X642 boat prop on it and he said vroom vroom real loud too.....

Half of the problem I think we have with our drag cars is that nothing is specifically made for them. We are constantly taking other parts and making them work and a good example is the exhaust. Do I think a boat pipe is the answer, not sure. Is a side mounted pipe like the Vortice the answer, not sure. The real answer is to encourage a manufacturer to build a purpose built exhaust for our cars. Wether it be a boat pipe set up or a side pipe set up. Is this out of the capabilities of Walbern or GMS, No. I personally think the Vortice that most of us run is a POS, but it is what we have as of right now. I think the way you have to cut and grind to get a boat pipe to work is garbage also. Is is that unrealistic that someone could come up with a correct header for a boat pipe that does not have to be cut bent and ground, no. Bonzi has one, but it is for a 26cc motor. Someone out there could get the job done for us, but untill then we have what we have. I personally think we are limited by what we have. Everyhting we have for cars are great, but they can be better, I see changes to be made and I make them. I am not talking about re-inventing the wheel, but making it better.

Guys, It's going take a lot of pain and patience to get it right, It is not gonna just happen over night, But it will happen for you. I wasn't easy for me!!!!! I am still learning. I will say this: those that are starting out and have money to burn, don't burn it, start slow. If you choose to put a marine pipe on your car for the first time, unless you have a good working knowledge of the difference between a Marine pipe and a conventional on road pipe, you are asking for trouble. I am not at all saying that it is impossible to have immediate success. You can!!! Just take your time and learn as much as you can. It will pay off on one of those BRAGGIN RIGHTS days you know what i mean guys LOL.
pay your dues

The point is it is really not what is right or wrong to use or how to make it work. It is the lack of parts we have to use and getting someone to step up and develope a system for us. I don't think that is asking for much, or we can keep frankensteining our cars with on road parts.

look you do what you want...but If you do the research and money is no issue there are side pipes that will do the job, r/b makes them for their motors.Ive just recieve mine yesterday and because I like the way the tech of the company talks I now have the both the side and the boat, and I will be testing the both of em for myself... because I know what I want out of my car, not because someone else is going to make me do anything besides I have a boat pipe and to tune that pipe with the motor is another horse with a different color all of us is lookin for perfection tell me who found it, far as Im concern nobody has... thats why we all will keep searching until someone in this world breaks the ice.Now Im goin to werk, you cats have fun searching Im going to make some money

For Those of you Who Know RC Drag Racing,, Every Nitro Record has been set with a BOAT PIPE!!! For You Guys Who Dont Know Or are Just Starting{{ In the Last Year}} On Road Pipes Dont Set Any Records....But Then again I havent seen Any one in CHGO gettin Close to ANY record,,,,All This Chit talk is for the Birds... If These Guys were SMART,, They Would Not Talk,,,, They Would Learn More about Their Cars,,,And How to Tune them,,, Carbs,,, Fuel,,,, Pipes... ETs,, RTs...6FT Times.. And So on.... Mark Price How Long did it take you to Master a Boat Pipe??? I Know Your Still Learning Just Like These Guys Should Be,,, NOT CHIT Talking Like Your Big Daddy Or Somthing...I'm Sure NONE of you Guys Have ALL the Answers Yet...GUYS it Takes Years and Many Many Hours of Running your cars,, Tunning,,, After you Have the Car Running Consistant,,,Like 1.701,,, 1.702,, 1.701 Every Pass,,,,,, Then you Test your Pipes and Tune them to your Car...And it May Take Many Pipes to Get there..Mark Price Said He is Still Learing about Boat Pipes,,, But You Guys Who have had a Pro Car for ONLY a Few Months Know ALL there is ta Know And Your EGOS Wont Let you Learn Any More...A 2.0 Run Wouldnt Even Make a Nat event,, Nor would a 1.80...All I have to Say is You NEVER Stop Learning And Dont Act Like You Know it All....You Guys Have a Good Chance to Realy Make some Great Runs This Year... But CHIT Talking Wont Help You go Quicker or Faster... Please Guys Think About this.......Drop the EGO thing and Be a Better Racer ,,NOT Talker...
