welcome to the forums!
this is an age old question that has been asked time and time again. i have never had a savage, but i hear they are great bashers. the maxx is a good truck, but the older models had breakage issues. weather or not the new one does idk. for a beginner, the traxxas is the way to go. great customer support, easy to use and even the smallest hobby shops have parts for them.

i think the truck that can take a huge beating is the 8ight-t rtr. i beat the snot out of mine and the broken parts list is 2 shock ball ends. and you can find the first edition cheep rite now. also it comes with a spectrum radio.

Honestly, if you wanted to really get into bashing and maybe get into a little racing...go for a Jamin truggy or buggy. I have a savage and I tried doing the same things I do with my truggy and it just sits broken now.

Ive launched my CRT.5 Farther then anyother truck Ive owned and its only broken a servo...just a $35 fix

When I was over in Bahrian I use to beat the heck out of my T-Maxx and never really broke much. The desert on the south side of the island was a great place to just run wide open... I miss that truck and wish it had never gotten stolen!

The Revo that took it's place was a good basher as well. That one got beat up badly but always came back for more...

Never had a Savage so I can't compare...
