you might be over geared. if your batts are getting hot, knock a tooth or two off the pinion.

well im running the stock 13 tooth pinion with the stock 54 tooth spur. But i was thinking of trying to use a cooling fan out of a computer to keep the batts from getting to hot.

check your drive line. make sure nothing is bound up and all parts are good. make sure you check the whole motion of the suspension. make sure nothing is jammed in the center tube where the drive shaft goes

I clean my truck after every run. But im wondering if it has to do with the fact that im running 50 weight diff lube in the rear end.

Maybe your batteries cant supply the amps your ESC is needing. Are you running brushless? Ive actually had a Nimh pack explode in my truck from a brushless. Head to Hobbyking or Hobbypatz and pick up a few 2s packs and a charger/balencer! A good Nimh pack cost more than lipo's now a days!
