I see an E-Clip staring me in the face.... Never a good sign...

As much as I hate e-clips, I still prefer them over those stupid screw hinge pins that traxxas uses... more companies need to work on getting captured pins on their vehicles.

Jeff's brings up a good point. And e-clips really aren't that bad provided you put them on correctly.... everyone does know that there is a right way and a wrong way to install them right? Besides, you know the tolerance of the pivot holes are not that great so the hinge pins will most likely be a bit tight in at least one part of the joint. Add a little dirt to the formula and wha-la, no more need for e-clips.

That's a really good point man... There is NOWHERE around here that I can buy any of that stuff from. Don't honestly know much about them. Got a suggested website for kits/parts? I can only fly my mSR X for so long before I need some wheel action... That's been what I've had with me most of the time.

Yes, sneaking into conference rooms at hotels after hours is usually perfect. Low pile carpet and lots of wide open space.

I actually didn't mind it. Don't get me wrong... I like the Exo Terra, Wraith, and SCX10 Honcho a lot better looks wise. A lot of people like the SCX10 Dingo... I freakin' hate that thing...think it's hella ugly. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

Haha! That's exactly where I've been with my mSR X. I used to travel with my Losi Trail Trekker a lot and make some crawling type courses in my room using all the crap they have laying around (the Gideon Bible was a crawling course staple). I've always dug the Mini Z...just apprehensive since they are expensive and I've not got any experience with them. I liked the Mini-Z Overlands too...

I'm just curious what sets it apart from the other scale crawlers they have. Is it a small scale (1/18 scale) or something? I'm assuming not, since it's got the 10 in there. It just looks like it from the pic. I haven't been paying much attention and I still don't see anything significant about it on their site.

I'm going to ASSUME it's just some minor updates to their existing AX10s, like that re-branded Castle ESC they run now, and some stuff like that. Maybe more of the entry level crawler type versus the XR10? Who knows. They suck at updating their site. I'd like to know myself instead of just guessing.

ya... Mini-Z's require some pretty smooth surfaces..... but because of their size and speed they work well in small areas..... 18th's are too large/fast for most hotel room race'n.... although we've had a blast with them jump'n them from bed to bed, and play'n demo derby on the roof's of rental cars with them (if you get knocked off the roof you lose).....

It will be interesting to see how they market it. They already have a "rock racer". They have the uber crawler. I'd like to see this one as the kind of entry level crawler the AX10 was...with just TONS of aftermarket stuff to go crazy with, or leave it pretty close to box stock and still perform.

Evan, are you in the Chicagoland area? Basically yes, Mini-z are expensive but the quality is very high. Steering is fantastic. Basically a high end KO propo steering servo. Very responsive, very precise. Speed is good to great. 1 set of AAA recharables will last you about 45 minutes. Tons of hop-ups that'll make your brain melt but really, not required. A stock Mr-03 with bearings can be plenty competitive if you ever planned on racing one.

I'm going to have to start doing some research. I've been flying a lot more than driving, so the size is a huge plus. There are always empty conference rooms and stuff I can sneak into.

I'm in the Fort Wayne, IN area. No one I know runs RC (accept my BSRC team, who are all at least 4 hours away). So I'm usually on my own, which I'm cool with for the most part. That is killer run time! I'm going to have to bite and get one. You're clearly a mini guru. If you don't mind, shoot me a PM of some links or sites you think can be helpful and I can study up. The BSRC crew knows I'm still the real noob of the group :D
