Once upon a time, I bought owned a 1/8 Nitro Buggy car. I learned to hate it so I traded the engine for a Brushless system. Specifically, a Mamba Maxx controller and a Nemesis 2875Kv motor. Later, I sold the buggy and Bought a Slash.
Weeks later, I discovered that I could put that system in my Slash. The result is this:
I cut a big ugly vent to keep everything cool. At some point I'll make it look nice.
Speed control is mounted on a custom plate, it will eventually get taped in place. Note the dual 1500's....awesome batteries, yes? 14.4 Volts is plenty to get it moving.
Here it is mounted up. It's a shame the gear cover no longer fits.
Novak pinion/Jato Spur at 16/54. It moves.
I bought a pair of Orion 2s 2400 Lipo batteries today, bumping the voltage up to 14.8v. Sadly, on the first run, the grub screw on the pinion backed out, rendering it undriveable. Once I get it replaced though...
Stay tuned for a video too.

i run 4s 5000 on 4800kv mamba max it's stupid fast!!!!!
the big thing with slash at speed is the front skid plate scooping air under the truck and flipping it
traxxas makes a tall battery hold down for the slash

Rough, uncut footage taken by my brother, with a dirty camera lens, before I put the wing on. And this is the best clip I have of it at the moment.

Yep, once I have the dough I'm going to buy a 17mm hub conversion and some on road tires that won't baloon out.

I had a set of old pin tires, so I'm running them until I can pick up some street treads. They hook up real nice on rubberized running track.

It's been a while since this has been updated.... Got it set up with 17mm hubs, made by STRC. Hit a fence making a speed pass at, oh, say...45+mph. The force of the impact practically destroyed the sad little Nemesis Blue motor, which was on it's way to burning out. 3s is the limit, but I ran it at 4. Oh well! I decided to step up the power and get myself a new, far superior motor. Yes, I went big. E-Revo VXL power big. Mamba Monster 2650KV big. It took a bit of creativity to get it in, but it's mounted up nice and solid now. ...ok it took alot of creativity. I had to open up the space for the motor to mount, grind the fins down in one place, and make a 3mm thick aluminum plate for the motor to bolt onto. Because the shaft is in a different location from stock, I'll need to run to the LHS tomorrow and get some new gears. Can't see them very well, but I've installed the Traxxas steel outdrives to help handle the power.
