Hi everybody. I want to share a body painting work with you. I worked on it 1 months ago (dates are not correct). I cut piece from my thumb away with hobby knife while I was cutting the edges.

1 Chevrolet SS kep
1 Tamiya red paint (as main color)
1 Cheap lack paint (for darkening and lanes)
1 masking tapes
1 scissors
1 hoby knife
some sand paper

After trimming the edges of the body we use sand paper. Then we place the body on the truck and mark the points that we will pierce for mounts. Then we wash the body. After that we should be careful to not to touch inside the body cause finger prints don’t look nice on the paint.

Now before applying our main color we should use masking tapes to where we will use our second color. Since I want transparent windows I used window masks.

By the way its better to warm up the spray cans for a better spraying. Before we start we should shake the can 3-4 minutes. I wanted to have a different color so I used both colors same time. a very little black and then red on it and a smooth transition from black to red on the sides of the body. We should be very patient during painting process. Spray the paint 2-3 times wait 4-5 minutes then spray again. And to keep the cans warm I used hair dryer. Painting has take about 30 minutes.

Now we remove the painting strips and use black paint for unpainted areas. Since my black paint is not a hobby paint I tried to use it as low as possible because it is not shock resistant.

here it is!! Result of a patient work.

We apply our stickers. But before that we should remove protector film on the body. It is a good idea to warm up the decals so they stick to body better.

Thanks for the post! It looks good.

Did you want the red to be that dark? If so.. that's cool. I just know that something I have learned the hard way.. was : Darkest colors first, then back with white. It makes the colors more 'colorfull'. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for posting the how-to.

Brian
