We just got back from the HOLESHOT 1st R/C Shootout & Car Show. We were surprised by the amount of attendance this evening. There was probably close to 100 people, with close to 50 vehicles there to run.

Warm-ups started around 3:30, with the car show starting around 5pm. There were some amazing paint jobs, with some great custom work as well. I was amazed at the amount of different custom setups people had on their cars. I’d say about 10 people had wheelie bars, and we saw just about every size and type of tire available on all sorts of on-road and off-road cars.

There were several classes, 2WD, 4WD, Truck, Buggy, and Mini, with sub classes for Small Block and Big Block. Something we thought a little strange was the amount of nitro vehicles. Usually when it comes to pure speed for a 200 foot race, you’d expect more electric. Not today, I think there was maybe 4 electric vehicles.

There was a very large amount of prizes to be given away. These were mostly given out in the car show event. Coolest paint, best custom car, best custom truck.. etc.

We happen to bring our speed gun with, and we set it up at the end of the track. This was a bit scary. Cars doing 50 mph plus, and we have a speed gun, a tripod, a battery box and cameras all inches from the finish line. More then a few times we were sent running out of the way of an out of control vehicle.

The event went pretty well for being their first event. They defiantly could of used some better racer management. Many times we were waiting for one driver or another to get their cars started, and by the time he’d show up, the other car would die, or have some sort of problem.

They had a pretty good light tree to start off the races, but it was only a starter tree. They were taking donations to help get a new one that would keep track of false starts, fastest times etc.

The parking lot where the race was held was nice and smooth, and didn’t really cause anyone any problems.

It got dark pretty quick. With the races starting at 6:30, we were out of light in no time. We got a few still camera shots, that we will post in the pictures section, and will try and get some video up soon.

It was a great time, Geno did a pretty good job for it being his first event, and I’m sure they will only get better. I look forward to the next one, and hope to have something more to race then my Custom Maxx.

Brian

Thanks for stopping by the forum. Crowd control huh? Is that to keep all of his fan's off him? :D

I thought there was a pretty great turn-out last time, he just needs to try and get people ready sooner. Yell out some names of who's next up after a race, so they can try and get their stuff started.

We had a great time. I need to get a street car before I can buy any tires. I'll definatly be entering the monster truck though!

Hey, I just found your site. Liked the videos! I really like Holeshot, because I don't normally get to see that sort of thing. Is it supposed to be only 23 seconds long? Seems like it cut out and I'd really like to see more!

Welcome aboard B!!!

Our Holeshot video should have been about 44 seconds. Perhaps you could try re-downloading or grab our other version. If you contine to have problems, let Brian or myself know and we'll get it fixed.

That said, our videos are still kinda short. I would like to work on longer videos, but our website is still pretty young. We have video for 2 more events that we are working on putting together (including another Holeshot video) and we have at least 2 more events that we are filming within the next few weeks. We're crazy busy.

On top of all of that, we are also trying to somewhat limit our bandwidth usage. While Brian and I are loving working on this website, we still haven't decided how we are going to pay for it !

So that's the long answer. The short answer is keep coming back, we've got plenty more on the way!!

Thanks Neil. I re-downloaded the video and got the full 44 seconds this time, so I'm guessing something was wrong at my end. That's some really cool stuff, and you did a very good job editing it all together too. I downloaded the MOV version also, and it's weird to see how the larger Quicktime video seems to have poorer quality.

By the way, the Monster Jam was good too! Sweet jump at the end! Harsh landing... :D

Good luck with your site and bandwidth! If you keep making videos like these, you're going to need it.

Glad you got the video working, and glad you enjoy them! Like Neil said, we have a few more in the works. With the web page still new, we are 'feeling out' our bandwidth, and trying to make sure we stay within our budget. So were still experimenting with clip sizes and quality.

Thanks again for stoping in!

Brian
