Just wanted to let you guys know we have a new track.

After more than a year of hard work and promoting it's time for some serious RC drag racing in Houston. With the purchase of a timing system( Thanks Ted) Houston Area Model Drag Racing League needs a permanent track. Thanks to Mr. Graham Baker owner of Houston Motorsports Park we now have a new home. He has agreed to let HAMDRL use his full size 1/8 mile track. We will get to use the shutdown area of the track.

Awesome news ... looks like the real track operators are coming on board more and more ... we recently arranged a deal to run at ours as well. We are located on the inside of the banked 1/2 mile oval. The pit row there is ideal for our needs and also allows us to "turn on the lights" for evening races! Congrats on the location!

We were considering the same thing. He runs oval and drags on opposite weekends. Would have been neat to be running our races while he was running his drags. But it would require us to pay the pit fee for insurance reasons.

First rough lines have been drawn in and the first coats of paint have been laid down ...
The track will have sensors installed for both 132' and 330' layouts.
There is NO lack of shutdown area. And every little sound echoes inside the dome.
Massive light towers focused on the track ...
Hmmm should be interesting.
Completion is in site ... now where did that VHT traction compound go ...
Stay Tuned

Uhhh... 320 feet?

1320 in 1/4 scale (divided by 4) = 330'

Oh, maybe that's CANADIAN feet, LOL!!! I forgot about the exchange rate.

We are going to see how things go in the next couple weeks. Then if all goes good we will ask if we can paint a full setup like that. We are just going to do a start/finish line for now. No lack of shutdown room for us either. Nearly full 1/4 mile.

Thanks StangRey ... yeah you'll be happy sixshooter ... the parking lot days are OVER. Best thing about it ... we don't EVER have to move or postpone for someone else. With our tracks full support we have access to all the track grooming, spraying equipment they use on the quarter mile. Even have offers from the track concession girls to come in and do the events. The track stepped up big time. We don't even have to pay the electric bill for the lights around the dome Monday evenings.
