this is just my take on things.. not the word of god.. just what i have experienced ,,so take it with a grain of salt.. and with the introduction of the new ST im sure many ppl will want to find a good BL motor to put in there..

testing was at socal raceway a dirt track offroad supercross style track for 10th scale electrics

the buggy is sitting on half8th buggy wheels with proline crime fighter tires
the truggy is sitting on half8th ST wheels with the tires that come stock with it.. kyosho,,3racing

MAMBA 8000kv,, first brushless i tried in the detta
pro- vry fast.. would have been great if it were a 400 can
cons- extreme heat from usage
gearing-12/49

WRAITH 7K,, second brushless once the 8000kv died
pro- just as fast as the 8000kv
cons - another extremely hot motor
gearing -12/49 made it hot but 13/49 made it smokin hot

GH4700,, third motor.. perfect fit,, loved the heat sink
pro,- fast motor not as fast as 8000kv but still fast,, cooled down really fast for the buggy
con- hot.. heat issues,, did not like the half8th ST tires on the vendetta ST
gearing- 19/45 good for buggy bad for truggy even 16/45 was bad extreme heat and not fast at all

AON4900,, fourth motor after gh4700 died,, i thought this was the ticket
pro- fast but not what i thought,, i expected great things from this motor.. it was ok.. prfferred the gh4700 over this one.
con- i idnt expect it to get as hot as it did.. and the claims of it being a torque monster , it just didnt like the gearing
gearing-19/45

GH3600,, tried this motor on the on the buggy and it was decent i was shocked ,,,
pro - decent speed for the buggy and more than decent for the truggy
gearing - 19/41 for both the buggy and truggy

AMMO 28-35-3900,,,, best thing sinced sliced bread.. this is the mamba 8000kv for the truggy,,
pro- really fast.. impressed with its speed ,, i use this motor to race with
con- gets a lil warmer than i want.. but not anywhere near the heat of the others up top,, ball diffs are needed

PERMAX 400/4D,,,, this would be the C4 for the buggy and truggy,, this thing continues to impress me
pro-can be geared for whatever track.. stays cooler than any motor i have used ,, this is extremely awesom
con- price,, and i cant get it to heat up,, have to upgrade to ball diffs
gearing -buggy 16/41,,19/45,,1941. truggy 16/41,,19/45(which im scared to try.. dont know what i will break)

EDIT CHANGE AS OF NOW.. 05-07-08,,,,,
MY NEW REFERENCE SYSTEM

NEU 1105/1.5y
19/45 gearing
evo2 1600mah flight power lipo
,,, i cant even describe the feeling.. the power,, the speed..
10th scale street tires with suspension set up for dirt track,,, wheelies on demand.. rlling wheelies.. i have no idea what the top speed is.. the car cant keep up with the tire spin..

Awesome!
Thanks for this!

While I believe in brushless, 99% of my experience has been with Mamba's. (And a few Venom) but that's it.

fast meaning...how fast? with the stock ultra high 380 in my detta st and my 1200 mAhs i got it up to near 25 mph. with the stock charger and stock batt it goes about 18 mph. so with these brushless motors what are we talkin about..30..40+? and how much does gearing play into how fast it goes? i'm just planning on what to do to my detta st when it needs a new motor. :?:

i dont do speed runs.. bu this vid might be able to help.. not sure though.. i race on a track and my car sees nothing other than a track,, so if keeping up with pro mod buggies and trucks aswell as some nitro 8th scale is fast enough then there you go.. actual mph i couldnt tell you.. but here are some videos to give you an idea..

so...how whould the GH4700 and the mamba 25 esc do on the truggy with stock tires...and why did it heat up on the truggy and not the buggy? AND how do the stock plastic parts hold up with a brushless? and whould an all aluminum hop-up help break less parts?

the gh4700 MIGHT do fine with thw stock tire size.. they did ok with the half8th buggy tires.

the tires i was using when i ran it were much bigger than stock,, they were the hlaf8th ST tires..

well depends on the brushless motor.. with larger tires and running the gh3600 with 19/41 gearing.. my plastic cvd's lasted longer than i thought

the only alum hop ups i would recommend for the ST would be ..
top arm
wing mount
front hinge brace

great info jae, i've been reading the vendetta thread on another rc site
and saw your videos and info about what you've done with your ride.

the engine info is awesome.

whats the stock gear ratio on the detta?

i'm looking to go brushless in the near future.

for the engine esc , was thinking the golden horizons 3600
and for the esc maybe a dynamite mini tazer - dyn4930 .

i dont need tons of speed, pretty much just racing around
streets and parks to practice for now. going to work up to
a bigger motor when i know what might break how it works etc. hehe.

would you suggest getting new cvd's ?
Image
those things right? ( im only 2 months into the hobby )

and theres something else people seem to upgrade diffs i think it was?

keeping tire size stock for now on a side note.

thanks for any infos ! awesome site

the stock ration is for the ST 13/45 8.76:1 for the buggy 16/45 7.12:1

steel cvd's and ball diffs are almost a must with brushless motors..

I'm finaly finished with "project: brushless vendetta st". my setup is as follows.
motor: golden horizons gh3600
gearing: 19/45
esc: mamba25
battery: electrifly 910mAh 11.1V lipo
radio: stock, a new longer-range radio soon
tires: stock, dynamite pre-mounted touring car tires soon
other: graphite: servo hold-down, battery strap. anything not said is most likely stock.

this car is very fast and the motor stays fairly cool. the only problem i've been having is my 13T likes to start sliping on the pinion after about 10 minutes of running, then i have to tighten the set screw and put it back to together, run 10 minutes, pinion gear starts sliping again. it never did this with the 19T so i'm going to stick with 19T anyway becuz it has more speed and does wheelys easier. :D

cool!

Do you have a speed gun? would be interested in how fast it goes. I was going to suggest maybe a tiny drop of lock-tight in the set screw, but sounds like you have a fix. :)

i dont have a speed gun, but i do have my dad and his real truck. we had a 50 foot drag race..i obviously won. :D he looked at the speedometer and he said it read 40ish by the time i was at the 50ft mark and he was at the 40ft mark. and yes i did try some lock tight, and it HELPED for about 20minutes, then it sliped again. i when to the shop yesterday and bought some new set screws from Du-bro and it HELPED for about 30 minutes. i'm guessing my motor doesnt like this 13T so i'm going with the 19T all the way. :D i cant wait to start racing!

By the way...i was useing the setup 13/45 when i drag raced my dad. it goes around 40mph with that and around i'm guessing 45+mph with 19/45. and when i change out my 45 weh nit strips i will have,as jae says, 19/41, which will be around 50mph. i'm going as fast as in your rc18t vids. :D
