Horizon Hobby at the 2015 HobbyTown USA Convention

Sporting a huge room at the ’15 HobbyTown USA Convention was our friends from Horizon Hobby. Ice cold Rockstar Energy Drinks were in abundance (they have a collaboration with them) as were snacks to keep tired convention attendees going.

If you haven’t already noticed, Horizon is placing a big emphasis on staying at the front edge of the latest technology. For example, they have been picking up some of the leading drone manufacturers, as well as products from companies like Real FX (who produce a cutting edge slotless race car track with artificial intelligence) and Flysight (who make Dual Diversity FPV Goggles). In fact, pretty much anywhere you looked in their room, you saw cutting edge technology. Spektrum AVC stability control was heavily featured, as were their latest drones. Some other notes from the Horizon booth include-

* The 18th scale ECX Temper RTR rock crawler was on display. It has a relatively small form factor at a very attractive price ($129). Get yours on pre-order now because they are pretty much guaranteed to sell out of the the first shipment way before they actually hit the market.

* The two latest watercraft from Pro Boat, the Stealthwake and the Voracity E, were on display. Both looked extremely sharp, with the Voracity E looking extra burly with its large size.

* The Vaterra F100 was on display and we must say that it looks even more amazing in person than in pictures.

* New from Blade was the 230S RTF and BNF. Both of these feature Horizon’s SAFE technology and are a great way to start aerobatic flying with a heli.

* Blade also had a new tiny quad on hand, the Inductrix BNF & RTF. The Inductrix is super small, yet big enough for stability. Both versions come with SAFE technology and the RTR version will sell for $69.

* Also on the quadcopter front was the Blade Mach 25 FPV Racer. The quad racing scene is blowing up like crazy right now and this is Blade’s entry into the class ($429 BNF).

Many of the products we saw in the Horizon booth will be lighting up the sales floor this Christmas buying season and we hear there are several more good sized announcements coming soon. We would like to thank all the people from Horizon for the hook-up on all the information on their new products and for making us feel like home while touring their room/booth.
