It seems like everyone got ramped up after seeing the teaser shots, now here it is in all of its glory, the re-release of the Kyosho Optima 4wd Buggy. For those of you that were in the hobby back in the mid 80s, the Optima was easily one of the coolest buggies that money could buy. For those of you new to the hobby, the Optima re-release can give you a glimpse of what the early days in rc were like. Either way, we know that the Optima is going to find its way into a lot of new homes in the coming months.
Perhaps the biggest question on the new Optima is, “What did they change from the original?”. Thankfully they did change a few parts to help update the buggy to modern standards-
* 6061-T6 aluminum chassis
* Can be built with either chain or belt drive
* Full ball bearing set
* 48 pitch gears
* Slipper clutch
* Updated, softer tires
* 10mm aluminum oil shocks
* Hex hardware
* Two different front bumpers (wide and narrow)
* New rear hubs with adjustable toe
* Velcro battery straps
* 1 piece wheel design
If you are anything like us, you can’t wait to get one in your hands. The Optima will have a street price of just $299 with a part number of #30617B. Get all the glorious details over on the official Kyosho America Website.
