Pro-Line caused a serious stir among the rc community earlier in the week when they teased a picture of their upcoming Rat Rod body for the Traxxas 1/16 E-Revo. It was cool to see Pro-Line take a small step from their normal stuff and put out such a cool scale looking body. Painting the tires to look like white walls is a great, quick and easy step to really bringing the whole look together. We are looking forward to getting our hands on this body, and also have our fingers crossed that Pro-Line produces a similar body in other scales!

OK,I’ve been checking your site for over a year now with relative ease until the last few months. My question is WHAT THE F*&K IS WRONG WITH YOUR F&*^*ING WEBSITE?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I’m not exaggerating when I say that 70% of the time it doesn’t load up. Then on other occasions, it’s slower than most of Tamiyas products that don’t cost a fortune?!?!!? Seriously, I’ve tried your site on several other computers as well so don’t go an say it’s user error or my pc is piece of Losi. Do I need to download some specific program to make the F^&*ING site easier to view?!?!?! Please tell me and I’ll do it.

P.S. I love your site when I can actually view the F$*&ING thing.
Respectfully and annoyed,

Cubby- Maybe I’m entirely too narcissistic, but I’m jealous BSRC got a hate-mail that wasn’t strictly about me. “Sigh”.
But I agree with ya, BSRC is loading slow. I access the site from both a laptop and cell phone, and for my Gen-X taste it simply takes too long. I will say that Brian and Jeff are both constantly tweaking the site to shorten load times as we are well aware that fast load times equals happy readers.

We’ve also talked for hours upon hours about how much stuff we want on the front page, which also includes advertising. None of us can stand sites that have dozens of banners flashing all over the place, so our “best case scenario” would be having one large advertiser, instead of 100 smaller ones.

From the BSRC Facebook page…

should i give up on my broke mini t and upgrade to mini revo or stick with the mini t
Austin N.

Cubby- The 16th scale E-Revo is a far more advanced piece of machinery than the Losi Mini-T, more importantly, it’s a much more capable truck in the rough. A dirt track that is undriveable to a Mini-T can be navigated quite easily with a 16th scale E-Revo. The larger tires and 4wd do wonders for what the 16th Revo can handle. To boil it down- you can drive the Revo in more places than the Mini-T.

That being said, is it more fun? Money nor technology equals fun, so you might very well have more fun with your Mini-T. The Losi certainly has put millions of smiles on drivers faces- parts are cheap, the truck is easy to work on, and after-market support is second to none. If part of having more fun is being able to drive your truck in rougher terrain, then yes, your money will be well spent on the Traxxas.

Lastly Austin, if you do pick up a new 16th Revo send us an email and let us know how you like it.

hello im planing on getting the new losi xxxscb and was woundering if its fast out of the box and are they durable too
Simon R.

Cubby- Long time no hear from Simon.

Is the XXX-SCB fast? It’s surprising quick for the electronics it comes with. It has enough yank to make some pretty impressive jumps and enough top end speed to keep things interesting. But… the motor runs far too hot, so all that speed doesn’t last long. When you can smell your SCB drive by, you know the motor isn’t going to live much longer.

Is the Losi XXX-SCB durable? We broke nothing during our initial testing period. Since then we’ve driven it like we stole it and broken a few parts. We’ve blown two shock cartridges, broke one shock end, broke one rod end, and popped the steering rack out of its lower mount. The screws in the rear pivot block are loose after every run as well. The XXX-SCB isn’t the most durable thing you can buy, but it isn’t fragile either.

Also… we’ve learned a few more points about the SCB since our review-

1. While the literature may say it has captured hinge pins, and even Horizon product support says it has captured hinge pins, it does not.
2. The specs say it comes with a complete bearing kit, but there aren’t any in the steering rack.
3. The stock shock cartridges need to be replaced immediately with the standard Losi XXX units.
4. The stock Tie-rods are slightly too short lending to broken rod ends.
5. The stock rear pivot plate needs to be replaced immediately by an STRC unit- part #STLA4145RS, around $16.
6. The stock steering geometry is not optimal for large diameter SC tires. The stock geometry results in “knifey” steering and limited mechanical grip.
7. The suspension on the SCB doesn’t seem to have quite enough up travel, and seems too hard near full compression. This puts unneeded stress on the shocks, a-arms, hubs, rims, etc, but even worse, it makes any landing, other than a perfect one, bouncy and hard to control.

It’s still a cool buggy, one that’s a blast to drive and a head turner, but Losi left the door open in a few spots. I really like mine, but I am looking forward to fixing its few problem areas.

Traxxas’ tiny truck is getting a big upgrade in the shock department thanks to the Exotek crew. Their new Big Bore Shocks for the 1/16 E-Revo (and pretty much all the other 1/16 scale Traxxas vehicles, with minor parts swaps) are beautifully machined hunks of alloy with threaded shock bodies and a gun metal finish for hot looks. You’ll also find silicon o-rings and cap bladders to keep the oil inside the shock where it belongs. A complete kit comes with four shocks plus all the hardware you’ll need to mount them in your truck. Best of all they’re pretty cheap, with list price of $69.95.

Review by Brian.

While a lot of people call it the Mini E-Revo, the good people over at Traxxas will be quick to point out that there is nothing ‘mini’ about it. From it’s power and speed, to hop-ups and durability, the 1/16 E-Revo does everything big. How big? Well, lets dive into our review of the Traxxas 1/16 E-Revo VXL!

First, a few facts about the version we are working with. We are using the Brushless VXL version that comes with the TQ 2.4Ghz radio system. If you are looking to save a few $$, Traxxas also has a brushed version of the 1/16 E-Revo that comes with a AM radio. If you can afford the extra $80 or so, we recommend you make the jump to brushless and 2.4Ghz.

The 1/16 E-Revo, it’s ready for experienced users as well as new bashers with the Traxxas Training mode that they have built into the ESC. The training mode lets you have all the fun at 50% power while you are getting used to the controls of your new vehicle. We applaud Traxxas for including this in all their new ESC’s as it has proven a big help with new people interested in the hobby.

Out of the box we were hitting some awesome speeds! With the included NiMH Traxxas battery we were hitting 30mph with no problem. On a 2S lipo we were up to 34mph, and then we made the jump to 4s (we would like to point out that Traxxas says to keep it at 3S or less) and we had no problem hitting 50mph!
This truck was fast, and at those kinds of speeds, we are talking some serious bashing! They even include a extra gear if you are looking to achieve those super sonic speeds on 3S or running two NiMH packs in series.

Ok, so it’s fast, but can it fly? Yes, yes it can. This truck can take some serious abuse. We have driven any and every ramp we own, taken it to skate parks and launched it 20+ feet into the air over the back of quarter pipes, and very rarely do we need to do any repairs on the vehicle. The truck is very easy to control in the air, the weight is balanced well enough that you can make corrections easily before landing, and the stock truck holds up very well to the abuse we have been giving it over the last few months.

Another great advantage to being a Traxxas made vehicle is that tons of companies will jump on board the hop-ups train! There are a bunch of great companies making some awesome hop-up parts, from pure bling to even more durability! Traxxas themselves even has a good amount of support parts like the Aluminum Caps for your pivot balls, Steel Drive Shafts, and hard anodized shocks. So whatever your need beefing up your ride, you will be covered!

Like all the other current Traxxas vehicles, this one also comes with water-proof electronics, so snow, rain, and all the weather in-between will not get in the way of you getting in some drive time.

At the end of the day, you can look back and enjoy the fond memories you had with your 1/16 E-Revo. The huge air, the high speeds, and the hardcore bashing will all bring a smile.

Check out a video we made of some speed runs and back flip fun!

As with all of our stuff, if you see us at a bash, stop by and check out the vehicles we have with us. We may let you take a test drive, and at the very least get you some stickers!

SUMMARY

Time To Bash – 9.0/10 – Charge batteries and go! They even include one for you!

Workability – 8.0/10 – The truck is decent to work on. The small size does make for some tight fits, but nothing unworkable.

Car Show Rating – 8/10 -Out of the box it looks pretty good, but with some after market bling, you can hit a 10 pretty easy.

Bash-A-Bility – 9.5/10 – Can handle water, snow, huge air and high speeds! This truck is built for bashing!.

Big Squid Rating – 8.5/10 - Tentacles.. The 1/16 E-Revo is a blast to drive. From new people to the hobby all the way to expert bashers will really enjoy this vehicle.
