We recently stopped by the Hobbico offices where we handed off the latest Basher Approved Award for the Team Durango DEX408v2 Buggy. Scott Cramer did the honors of accepting the award for the Durango folks while we were in town.
The DEX408v2 has been hard to pry from Cubby’s hands. When he called it one of the best jumping vehicles he has ever driven, he wasn’t kidding! The Durango kit has been his go to buggy for a while now, and we decided any vehicle that can have that sort of effect on Cubby as well as the rest of us here, must be special!
Curious what it takes to get a Basher Approved Award? You can read all about them Right Here and also see who else has won the prestigious award.

Congrats to Team Durango, keep up the great work!

The crew at Team Losi Racing (TLR) had a great 2013 Nuremberg show with the announcement of their new Losi 8ight 3.0 and Ten SCTE 2.0, both of these new machines are going to be hot players in 2013. Alongside the Losi booth was the ECX booth where we were able to give the ECX crew their Basher Approved plaque in person for the ECX Torment SCT. Check out the gallery below for some up close and personal shots of the latest from Losi.

It’s time to hand out another Basher Approved Award. This time up we have the Futaba 4PL! We have had a 4PL around the office for a while now, and it’s been great. It’s taken a beating in and out of pit boxes, been dropped on the floor a half a dozen times, sometimes on purpose, and it just keeps going. You can read our original Futaba 4PL Review right there.
You can read all about our BASHER APPROVED AWARD as well as get more details about the winners, and see other products and vehicles that have achieved this elite status.

Yes, it has been a while, but we don’t just hand these things out to anyone who wants to toss us cash like the other industry awards. The Basher Approved award is probably one of the most sought after awards in the RC world because companies actually have to EARN it! It’s our stamp of approval, and we take this thing pretty seriously now a days.
I’d like to take a moment and congratulate two companies on their products that have made our prestigious list. First is the ARRMA Granite. Not only did this truck win our 2WD Monster Truck Shootout, but it backed up it’s toughness with an insane crash and bash beat down video while we were trying to destroy it.
Next the ECX Torment short course truck. You can read our Updated Review Here to get our overall opinion, but the short version is this truck is indestructible. We have been beating on this truck for months, and it does not even blink. I feel sorry for the hobby shop that bought a bunch of parts to have in stock for people, because they aren’t going to be selling them any time soon.

We take our BASHER APPROVED award very seriously around here, and it’s rare when we hand one out. That being said, we would like to congratulate the Sunshine Systems folks on their LED Ground Effects Kit getting the latest award. You can read our full review of light kit here.
We have seen a good handful of light systems pass through the office, and none have taken the beatings that these have. If you need to add some serious bling to your ride, make sure to check out the Sunshine Systems site for details, and our review.
So it looks like it’s time for another update on what’s been going down around the office lately. First up, is some big news. We have decided to go ahead and give the Thunder Tiger MT4-3G our BASHER APPROVED award! I honestly don’t think we have tested a tougher truck. On all of our latest outings, everyone has just been all about torturing this truck. At the HuckFest a few weeks ago we jumped this truck over 125 feet about 5 times in a row. We were running most the day on 6S at close to 60mph, and we drove it away. It’s the only vehicle that was able to make more than two jumps in a row and survive! Any other truck this size would of shredded gears, broken a-arms or worse, but the Thunder Tiger MT4 went home in one piece. It’s been bashed at skate parks, streets, yards and tracks, and has been our goto truck for the past few weeks, so everyone here agreed we needed to give it the award! Congrats to Thunder Tiger on the awesome truck.. keep up the good work!
Other things around the office, we are testing the Thunder Tiger Sparrowhawk XXT. Will it be able to follow in the footsteps? Only time will tell.
We are also gearing up for another shootout. This one is going to be a little different, and already we have a lot of companies supporting it, so it’s looking like there will be some great match-ups! More about the shootout in a couple of weeks.
Besides all that, we have been getting ready for the RCX event coming up on August 6th as well as iHobby in October! We are going big at both shows, so if you are in the area, make sure to come on out!
I think that’s enough watercooler news for this week. Thanks for reading!
So we just updated the Basher Approved section with two new entries. I’ll let you read all about it in that section, but on the left is Scott Cramer accepting the award for the Duratrax Evader DT truck, and on the right in his best pose yet is Peter Vieira from Traxxas accepting the award for the Velineon Brushless System.
Both products have been amazing this year, and really deserved the award. Head over to the Basher Approved section for details!
While we were out at the Short Course Showdown we had a chance to hand out two more Basher Approved ™ awards. It’s always more fun to do these in person, then to just mail them out.
On the left is Erik Shauver from HPI Racing accepting the award for the HPI Blitz. He was one of the major designers behind the Blitz, and it was pretty cool to meet him, and have a little chat. On the right is John Schultz, also from HPI accepting the award for the HPI Savage XL. Both of these vehicles have really held up to some amazing abuse. We own three Blitz vehicles, and have barely busted a thing on them for months of abuse. The Savage XL is just a beast! Besides being super powerful and fun to drive, it’s really easy to work on, and brings a smile to our face every time we fire it up!
Congrats to HPI on two amazing vehicles.
