Heli-Max Axe 100 SS & Axe 100 SSL Brushless Aerobatic Helicopters

The Heli-Max crew has a couple of new aerobatic helis on the market, the Axe 100 SS and the Axe 100 SSL. Both come with serious outrunner brushless power, TAGS (triple axis gyro stabilization), longer tail booms, reinforced swash plates, and come RTF or Tx-R.

Part numbers for the Axe 100 SS are #HMXE0827 for RTF and #HMXE0828 for the Tx-R model. The Axe 100 SSL adds some cool looking LED lighting and has part numbers of #HMXE0827 for RTF and #HMXE0828 for Tx-R. Street prices on both are $160 for RTF and $220 for Tx-R. Late May is the expected release date on all four of the new Heli-Maxs.

Hitec HSG-8315BH Ultra-fast Helicopter Tail Rotor Servo

There are “fast” servos, then there are “OMG FAST”! I think the new Hitec HSG-8315BH falls into the “OMG FAST” category. The 8315 was designed for use as the tail rotor servo on helicopters, but with its Karbonite gears and dual bearings it should make a good option for low torque surface applications. Its specifications at 7.4 volts are-

* Speed- .04
* Torque- 74 oz-in
* Size- 1.57 x 0.79 x 1.50 in
* Weight- 60 grams

Weak Signals RC Show – Toledo Ohio – We Are Here!

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know that a few of the Big Squid RC crew will be in attendance this weekend at the Weak Signals RC Show on April 6th 2013! The show is all weekend, but we have some in to town to check it out. We have heard nothing but good things about the show, and are really looking forward to hanging out and meeting a lot of new people. This show is mostly RC Planes and Heli’s from what we have heard, but it’s a ‘Selling Show’ which means every booth can sell stuff! Awe yea, time to buy some new RC!

If you are in the area, you should really think about going to the show, at the very least you can meet up with us right?

I brought plenty of stickers to hand out, and even a few t-shirts. So if you see us walking the show, make sure to say hi!! We know we have a bunch of readers/fans in Ohio, so come check out the show! Hope to see ya there!

The crew over at Innovative Flight Technologies (IFT) have just introduced their new helicopter, the Evolve 300 CX. What makes the 300 CX so cool is its Collision Avoidance Technology (CAT), meaning it uses ultrasonic sensors to keep from smashing into walls, furniture, or basically any other large object. If you are flying full speed towards a wall it will stop itself and not hit it. How cool is that? Some of the Evolve 300 CX’s primary features and specifications include-

Heli-Max Blackhawk Scale Heli

In the RC world, scale is hot. It’s finally not just about performance, but looks as well. Heli Max RC has just announced the new Blackhawk Scale Heli. This RTF was based on the Sikorsky Blackhawk with detail down to the landing gear. It has LED lighting, 4-blade collective pitch head, and uses the TAGS (Thress Axis Gyro system). It comes with a 6-channel 2.4GHz SLT transmitter and 7.4v LiPo. There is also a TxR (Transmitter Ready) version for those who don’t need to buy a new radio. Those wondering about the scale, it has a 12.8 in (325mm) rotor.

Heli-Max RC Is Having A Sale On Select Models

Worlds First Manned Flight Electric MultiCopter is RC?

So there are a bunch of people at e-volo who got their brains together to make a huge multi-copter. In the video you can see the big battery packs strapped on each of the struts, and what looks like giant brushless motors on top. The thing that blew me away is that he goes and grabs a normal 2.4ghz rc flight radio to fly the thing with! Honestly, I’m not sure Wrench hasn’t already done this and just not filmed or told anyone about it yet! LOL!

Still cool to see it in action.. seriously all the technology has been there for a while, it just took someone ~~dumb~~ brave enough to sit between 8 slicing and dicing machines with no protection.

RC Heli Lands on Wall

So I don’t normally get all jacked up over helicopters. It’s just not my scene. However, this video from Break.com just blew me away! Check out this guy landing a heli on a wall… Just NUTS! Thanks to Larry H. from Oklahoma City (GO SOONERS!) for giving me the heads up on this!
