THE Cub Report, Every Beginning Comes From Some Other Beginning’s End

Well, hello there and welcome to THE Cub Report. THE Cub Report is simply a weekly column that usually involves something rc related. Some people dig it, most people hate it, but I would like to thank the people at Prestige Worldwide for making this week’s Cub Report possible. Remember, Prestige Worldwide is your global leader for entertainment, management, financial portfolios, insurance, computers, black leather gloves, research & development, and security.

Hey, let us talk about the new Kyosho Outlaw Rampage. Kyosho had done some teasing of their 2RSA project a few weeks ago, with most people guessing it was going to be a scale truck of some sort. In the end, it turns out the 2RSA project was a vintage 2wd off-road machine. The Outlaw Rampage comes with 2 different styles of bodies, both of the vintage variety. It has a solid rear axle and sports independent suspension up front. Any which way, while original, and while smartly priced, the Outlaw Rampage just seems to be a strange offering right now. The scale bodies are neat, but off-road/short course trucks aren’t really in vogue right now, especially of the 2wd variety. And while the bodies look the part, there just isn’t much scale detailing underneath. If it was 4wd I would have been all over it, but with them being just 2wd, well, not so much. It will be interesting to see how well they end up selling.

Then, if you wanna talk really, really strange offerings, lets have a look at the Tamiya Dancing Rider Trike. Ya…. so, I don’t even know where to start with that one. It has 3 wheels, but in the video it appears to be somewhat unstable and hard to drive. Now, a cool 3 wheeler of some sort might have had some potential, but the Dancing Rider seems to be geared more towards the hardcore Tamiya collector market. Still, it’s cool to see Tamiya going for it and putting out something completely different, although I feel zero want to actually own one. Different strokes for different folks, but if this one catches on I will be amazed.

Lastly, I gotta at least mention Pro-Line’s Big Teaser Video. The name of their teaser video is “Let’s Do This”, and while it mentions nothing specific, it has to be something big. The P-L crew states that the full announcement date is October 14th, the same day as our bash with them out in Southern California, which is slated mostly as a solid axle monster truck bash. So hummmmmm, could it be a new truck? Is it just some high-zoot body? All I have to say is be sure to hit refresh here at BigSquidRC on the 14th as we’ll not only be bashing hard that day, but also posting up all the scoop live from Pro-Line world headquarters.

And that’s all I have for ya this week. As always, you can email me at thecubreportrc at gmail dot com, and get out and support those local hobby shops and bash spots when ya can.

PS- Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the Las Vegas mass shooting that took place last night. I spend 8 to 10 weeks a year in Vegas and had in fact just gotten back from there a few hours before it happened. We can’t imagine what everyone in Vegas is going through right now, but we are praying for you.
