THE Cub Report, Version- Endlessly Qualifying, Rarely Racing

Well hello there friends, my name is Cubby and this is my report. Welcome to yet another week in our beloved hobby of rc.

To start off with…

If you have read my column for any length of time, then you already know how I feel about IFMAR world’s events. In case you haven’t heard, a bunch of the world’s best are out in Vegas this week to battle it out in 8th scale nitro buggy. To boil it down, the Vegas world’s run for about 10 days. T E N days. Of which, the vast majority is qualifying, or qualifying to qualify. And yes, everyone who is there has already pre-qualified (WTF?).

If you’ve never been to Vegas (or any city for that matter), it is a great time on the first trip. However, if you are a pro racer and you’ve already been there 2 dozen times, being in town for the worlds is genuine work. Except… you are far away from home, away from loved ones, and driving/wrenching/working 16 hours a day in the middle of the desert.

“Dear Powers That Be,

Please, end the dreadfully long (and Expensive!!!) endless qualifying and do some real racing. TQ doesn’t matter jack diddly, why insist on spending 8 days on it? No other form of racing qualifies for over a week, RC certainly doesn’t need it either. Oh and, while I am at it, if the TQ doesn’t make the big show again this year, you will once again look like a bunch of blithering idiots.

Lots of love,
Your Dearest Cubby”

On a different note…

We are having a BIG gnarly jump contest on October 16th. Prove that you can go huge by showing up and competing. And btw, our jump contest will have exactly ZERO qualifying, when you huck it, you are jumping for the win every time. Also, there will be a rock crawling competition, a demo derby, and open bashing all day hosted by the STL RC Freaks Club. Cost to get in is just 5 American dollars and Castle Creations has signed on to be the primary sponsor. Get full details Right Here.

And finally…

Want to win a Thousand Dollars? Pro-Line is once again going epic with our Wipeout Video Contest. To boil it down, make a video of your gnarliest crash, submit it, and maybe win some cash or other cool prizes. Yes, there are a bunch of rules that you can Check Out Right Here, otherwise, we can’t wait to see just how crazy you can get. Oh and, if you are looking for some help getting your YouTube channel off the ground, winning our contest would be a great shot in the arm. Or, if you are just looking for a stepping stone to help one of your videos go viral, once again, it sure wouldn’t hurt to have Big Squid and Pro-Line helping to promote your video if you win. The contest runs through November 11th, so you have plenty of time to get your entry in.

And so there ya have it, another Cub Report is in the books. Have a fantastic week and get out and support your local hobby shops and bash spots when you have the opportunity.
