THE Cub Report- Word UP!

Well hello there friends, welcome to another week of THE Cub Report. As the most hated person in rc, there has gotta be something good in this week’s report, let’s see…

First up is the BigSquidRC 1.9″ RTR Scaler Shootout. We are about 99% done with testing, now comes the hard part, putting it all into words. LOL. Oh my gosh, (we can’t curse here, but you get the drift) we learned SO much during the shootout. Like I write in so many of our reviews, this truck or that truck seems awesome, but without a shootout it is truly impossible to tell if it is top-of-the-heap material. This shootout in particular reminded us how true that is. Each of the trucks in the shootout are really impressive, and really impressed us while we reviewed them. Only when we can take 6 brand new trucks out together, and can hit the exact same lines over and over again, does it then become crystal clear the highs and lows of each truck. Btw, I am gonna say we’ll go live with it some time next week.

Oh ya, props to Austin and the boyz at MaxAmps for providing us with the batteries for the shootout. We ran 2S MaxAmps LiPos in all the trucks to level out the playing field. We also used MaxAmps double As in the transmitters. I hear they (MA) are getting close to finishing up their “battery club”, something I am personally looking forward to as it will make it super convenient to receive the batteries I need every month. That probably doesn’t make much sense, but we’ll post the scoop when full details are sent out.

Speaking of scoops, I received a lot of email from last week about the industry news I was talking (teasing) about. First off, for all you industry types that don’t think you know what it is, well, I think you do. While hard to imagine, and not really good news for anyone in the industry, looks like it isn’t a matter of if, but a matter of when and how. And for the real haters out there, you might actually wanna listen this time around. Or, you can just be mad forever. In that case, have fun packing that around on your shoulders the rest of your life. I personally will be walking around without any dead weight on my shoulders, life is too short, and stressful enough the way it is.

And on to…

No, we have not been slacking on our review for the Pro-Line PRO-MT 4×4. We’ve been driving it like escaped mental patients, but have simply been extra busy and haven’t busted out the review as quickly as we would have liked. No worries though, we’ll get it up later this week. I am especially torqued off that we didn’t bust out the full review sooner, but with the Rocky Mountain show and the shootout, we just haven’t been in the office as much as we usually are, which makes actually typing up the review impossible. I really hate to spoil things (yet another blatant lie) but it has got to be in the running for our Bash Vehicle Of The Year. Actually, now that I think about it, 2017 just might be one of our toughest years yet. The Traxxas 8S X-Maxx is a front runner, as is the TRX-4, plus the ’18 ARRMA Talion, and we can’t forget about the Losi Desert Buggy XL-E, or the CEN Colossus XT, among others. Wow, looking back, 2017 has been a stellar year for bash vehicles! If you’ve got the cash, our industry certainly has something to get your pulse racing!

Ya, there is other stuff this week, but I am too lazy to type any more. As always, support your local hobby shops and bash spots when ya can.
