Traxxas TORC Series Event
This week Bill and I headed to the Traxxas TORC Series race. I’d like to take a moment and thank Peter Vieira and Damron Atkins from Traxxas for helping make this happen. They did an amazing job of helping us out and getting us hooked up with a little VIP action for the event! Hey Traxxas, you’re doing it right!
I you have not heard about this series, head over to the official site HERE. Basically it’s an off-road racing series sponsored by Traxxas where they mix RC cars and trucks with real full scale off-road racing action!
Everywhere you look, something (everything) is covered with the Traxxas logo. From golf carts, and giant TV’s, to inflatable trucks and big rigs! It’s everywhere, and it’s being pounded into people’s heads like mad. This is a good thing! If anyone who attended one of these events goes near a hobby shop, or gets the urge to get into the RC hobby, they are going to look on the shelf, or go online and see ‘Traxxas’ and think, ‘Yea, I have heard of them, I’ll take one of those!’ But it goes beyond that! Traxxas is helping everyone in the RC industry by doing these events. They are exposing millions of people to something they may not of known about, and maybe they will be the next newbies!
Bill and I both participated in the RC race they had at the event. And while we claim we aren’t racers, we finished 2nd and 3rd in the mod Slash class! Not bad for a couple of bashers! 🙂 I think we were making the other drivers nervous though because Bill and I just couldn’t resist a little bumping and rubbing whenever we were near each other. At one point I yelled down the drivers stand that I’d pay Bill $5 to start driving the wrong way on the track, and when he responded ‘ok’ we heard all sorts of ‘Ahh, what?! Wait!’ from the other drivers! Good times!
The stock Slash class had a bunch of entries, while mod slash and slayer didn’t have as many, it was still a good time. If you plan on going to an event, bring your trucks, it was a blast!
Here are a few shots of the Traxxas NASCAR Camping World Truck. You can read all about it here.
The overall vibe at the event was incredible.

The weather could not of been more perfect that evening. There were tons of racing fans, rc fans, and everyone was having a good time. It was cool to see the full size vehicles in person. When you see it on TV you don’t get the true sense of just how much air these guys are getting! They are flying! While the race was going on, Traxxas had a RC helicopter flying over the track getting the aerial views and then they had a Slash ON the track DURING the racing! They would drive it and position it just past a jump and watch the real full size cars fly over! The camera didn’t snap any usable pics it was way on the other side, but I’ll check the video footage and see if there was anything usable there.
Between the full scale races, Traxxas put on demos and doing a great job of wowing the crowd with some big ramp antics! They were using Slashes and E-Revo’s on the full size track and people were loving it. Everywhere, all the time, Traxxas was pounding their name as well as the hobby of RC into people’s heads! There was even a huge truck/store setup where you could buy any and every Traxxas vehicle available. Not to mention hats and shirts!
Traxxas allowed us onto the track during their demos, and I have already gotten a few emails that I was seen on the live broadcast down on the track! That’s cool in two ways.. first people are watching the races, and second they recognized me on the video! 🙂
Traxxas also has their ‘Try Me’ track setup! For just $1 you can get your hands on a slash and drive it around a dirt track they have sectioned off. Many kids and future newbies were getting in on the action.
There are still a few events in the series left! I highly recommend that if you live anywhere near one, that you go check it out! Take some friends and family, and have a great time!
