Monster Truck Madness – Hauling a Monster Truck

The CEN Racing Ford F450 SD scaler is definitely the hottest topic as of late in r/c land, and this week we are gonna discuss it here as well a bit!

So last week I mentioned that I’d like to see how this truck looks in scale next to a Tamiya Clod Buster or Axial SMT10. Our own Jeremy, who if you haven’t read his review of the truck that went live yesterday, you should, was nice enough to take some photos of the dually next to his BIGFOOT replica!

As you can see in these pics, those of you wanting to potentially use this for a monster truck hauler, it’s just about perfect. It may be a smidge on the large size, but it’s pretty darn close.

It would look really good with a flatbed style open-air trailer, complete with the tires riding in front or back of the truck.

To take this discussion to something that’s not exactly monster trucks but is related, I would love to see these things spark some interest in r/c truck pulling.

In the full size world, stock and work stock diesel truck pulling is pretty huge. Anytime a county fair or similar event opens up a class of them, they seemingly come out of the woodwork. Modified diesel truck pulling is also really popular and routinely draws in some of the biggest crowds on the pulling circuit.

The CEN truck would be a great platform to make a pulling class out of if a club wanted to start something. Heck, with RC4WD offering a RTR pulling sled, there aren’t many obstacles to trying it. Yeah, the sled costs a chunk of change, but in my experience as long as you have a group of guys looking to go in on one together, it’s not that big of an investment. I know that my local monster truck club has at least discussed doing something like this casually.

Ok, enough about this truck….for now! Next week it’s back to monster trucks, proper.
