Monster Truck Madness – Holiday Weekend Musings

Greetings all, and Happy 4th of July weekend to our US readers!

I’m settling in for a long weekend of music, fireworks and some trigger time on my basher monsters. But before that? Some ramblin’.

Pretty much all retail stores are running big 4th of July sales, and the r/c world is no different! Tower Hobbies, Horizon Hobby and various other hobby outlets are offering discounts this weekend, so if you’re sitting around with no plans, it’s not a bad weekend to try and hop into the new ride you’ve been wanting on the cheap!

Last week I posted about how the Clod was finally being upstaged by the LMT on the national racing circuit and then Tamiya goes and releases probably the coolest limited edition of the Clod that they’ve done! That grey and blue is hawwwwt. That would be a very fun truck to build as a box art display piece! Unfortunately, still the same old Clod though. Come on Tamiya, re-release the Juggernaut! I’m begging you! Take my money, please!

I plan to spend this weekend messing with my Losi drag car and my ARRMA Granite. I don’t talk about the Granite that much here due to always focusing on solid axle monsters, but it’s still my favorite bashing vehicle in my fleet. I’ve owned it for several years now and I’ve done almost nothing to it maintenance wise besides tightening the screws every now and then. It’s fun to just go full out and let it eat on 3S.

And speaking of letting ‘er eat, I plan to do some 8S X-Maxx monster truckin’ this weekend. It’s a sad state of affairs that I haven’t had my X-Maxx out since winter 2021. Yes, I hang my head in shame….but not after this weekend! I’m gonna go knock the dust off of it as I entertain some buddies at a big party I’m attending. Nothing turns heads quite like one of these behemoths!

Well, that’ll do it for me this week. It’s a short one. I hope you all stay safe out there and have a wonderful weekend. Until next time, keep it on all 4’s!
