Monster Truck Madness – Looking back at my 2023 Predictions

Hey everyone, hope you’re in the middle of some very happy holidays!

It’s time for one of my favorite blogs of the year- looking back at my predictions for the r/c monster truck space for the now-previous year and seeing what I got right and what I got wrong. I’ll go over my four main bullets below, but you can read last year’s prediction blog here.

#1 Losi LMT Sees a Refresh – Correct!

2023 saw two refresh’s to the LMT- the TLR Tuned LMT that came out in the Spring, and the Mini LMT which released a couple weeks ago. More on the mini in a moment though, as really that’s a new platform. The TLR Tuned LMT kit was a surprise to many folks, as it was a totally racing focused builder’s kit that was released as a limited edition. Mine is currently my favorite solid axle race truck in the fleet.

While I technically predicted we’d see another RTR style version of the truck or a different flavor like the mega truck versions, I’m still putting this prediction in the win column!

#2 More Microscale Monsters – Correct!

Ok, gonna play fast and loose with microscale as technically the biggest release in the category, the Mini LMT, is not “micro”….but it’s in the ballpark of what I meant! I mean, in the prediction blog last year I specifically mentioned a smaller LMT! That’s a win for ol’ Douglas!

#3 ARRMA Releases a New Basher Monster Truck Platform – Correct!

When I made this prediction, I assumed ARRMA would be releasing a new premium mega basher platform. However, they did release a new one, just at a different price point- the affordable Gorgon Monster Truck! I am very much looking forward to picking one of these little dudes up. And hey, another W in the win/loss column for predictions!

#4 A Scale Old School Monster Truck is Released – WRONG!

Welp, I suppose I couldn’t go 4 for 4 in the ol’ prediction game. A shame really, as this was the one I was wanting to happen the most.

Another year has come and gone without a true scale old school monster truck release. Let’s hope 2024 is a different story!

And with that, we are going to turn the page to 2024. Next Thursday look for my predictions blog for the upcoming year!

Until then, keep it on all 4’s. Happy New Year everyone!
