For Bashers, By Bashers!

Monster Truck Madness – Monster Truckers Needed in the Tampa, Florida Area!

Hey all, here’s a post I’ve been waiting to write for some time but can now make it official- this summer I will be relocating from St. Louis, Missouri to the Tampa / Saint Petersburg, Florida region!

While the prospect of living in perpetual outdoor racing weather is exciting, I’m not lot looking forward to leaving all of my r/c buddies, specifically the STL Big Squid crew and my good friends that have helped create and grow the Trigger King R/C Monster Truck Series here in STL with me. I’ve no doubt they will continue to keep kicking ass!

It’s definitely one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make in going south, but the gang up here has everything on lock and I look forward to making the trek back home to race with the crew several times per year. I actually intend to leave some trucks with friends here permanently for when I do come back!

While saying goodbye to old friends is not fun, I am looking forward to meeting a host of new r/c monster truck nuts in Florida as I work to expand Trigger King to the Tampa region with a southern division. What, you didn’t think I was going to quit, did you?

I am hoping to put in a permanent stadium-style scale monster truck track in my backyard (yes, the boss signed off on this) as well as set something up in a local park…and maybe even a beach!

While I don’t have a final name for the new division of Trigger King yet,  it’s going to follow the parent TK club for rules. I am hoping to get rolling sometime during the Fall.

This is where you, dear reader, hopefully come in. If you are interested in racing solid axle monster trucks in the west/central Florida area, I need to hear from you. You can shoot me an e-mail at doug at bigsquidrc.com. I’d love to discuss what classes you are interested in racing, what surface to use, etc. General questions about monster truck competition are welcome as well. If you are a total noob, don’t let that scare you- some of the best monster truck racers in the St. Louis region started as total newbies not long ago!

Heck, if you own a hobby shop in the area or know someone that owns one and would possibly like to regularly host r/c solid axle monster truck competition in your facility, I’d also love to hear from you.

It’s going to take a lot of work from a lot of people to get things rolling in Florida, but I’m looking forward to the challenge!
