The Backyard – Heading In To The Holiday Weekend
Greetings all, and Happy Friday! This weekend marks the unofficial start of Summer for those of us in the U.S. of A., and this is a wonderful time to get out there and bash/crawl!
What’s ya boi gonna do? I plan to take my H10 Optic out to a local park and have me a good session on the rocks. I’ve spent way too much time at my workbench the last few weeks and have had like zero trigger time, so I’m in need of going through a few battery packs.
While the Optic is the main event, I’ll also have my Traxxas TRX4-M in tow, as well as my FMS Camel Trophy Discovery. Both of those trucks have proven to be really fun to bring along in a backpack and taken out when specific obstacles present themselves.
Wheel time or not, I’m sure I’ll find my way back to the workbench this weekend at some point! I am concurrently working on a Sutton Motorsports JAWS Evolution pulling truck, an RH Designs Minirod Pulling Tractor and I’ve been continuing to work on a trailer for my King Hauler. I’ve got one of my monster trucks needing some driveline repair as well, as I plan to race it in two weeks at the BIGFOOT 4×4 Open House in Pacific, MO.
So yes, I’ve got a lot of irons in the fire. It’s funny though, because even though I’m working on all these projects, the fact that I’ve not actually done much wheeling makes it feel like I’ve not been doing much “hobbying” lately. Which is total nonsense, of course. (My wife would STRONGLY agree with that last statement).
I suppose I’m feeling that way because when I get some drive time in, it’s usually with some buddies- whether that’s scaling or racing. Spending time wrenching in my workshop, even if it’s probably my favorite part of the hobby, isn’t exactly a social thing. Even when writing about it here, or filming YouTube videos…it’s different, ya know?
So my goal this Summer is to get out and actually drive my fleet of vehicles! This may seem like a silly goal for some, but as someone who consistently gets lost in various projects, it’s an important goal to set for myself.
I’m looking forward to getting out there this weekend, and I hope wherever you are you can do that as well! If you can’t wheel, well maybe stop by your local hobby shop and see what they have going on and maybe show them some support- it’s ALWAYS a good time to support your LHS!
Alright, that’s it for me this week. Stay safe out there, all. Until next time keep it on all 4’s!
