THE Cub Report, Version- Never Sleep Alone

Hello rc masses, this is THE Freak’n Cub Report, where I talk the smack and you complain about it to your buddies.

Just FYI, if you haven’t noticed, this is the time of the year when all the manufacturers announce their fall/X-mas products. The Losi Supercar was the first (and perhaps biggest) to be announced thus far, but the PRs just keep on coming. You see, the Christmas season is just as important to your LHS (and on-line rc retailers) as it is to your local Wally World or to Amazon. In fact, some hobby shops are known to do up to 75% of their yearly business in the last 3 months of the year. There are more announcements to come in the next few weeks, hopefully they are the type of products that get you guys off your cell phone and into your local hobby shop. #cutthecheck

A few more notes from last week->

Traxxas announced they are putting their version of electronic stability control on the XO-1. Hummm… I wonder why? Any which way, that car could definitely have used it from the beginning. #playincatchup

Pudge freak’n crushed everyone over the weekend at the ROAR nats, not that most bashers would care, but to do what he did is pretty Epic. Granted, the pundits will say it “deserves an asterisk” as they were all running slicks and the turn-out wasn’t that stellar, but still, RC earns his paychecks and will go down as one of the all time greats in rc racing. #kill’nit4for4

You can’t fix stupid. It still boggles my mind that running slick tires is somehow considered “off road”. Seriously, ROAR needs a “field trip” to a real off-road event like an AMA motocross national, a Lucas Oil off-road truck race, heck anything that is really off-road. Or… just carpet/astro everything and call it something else like “Hybrid-cross”, because it sure as hell isn’t off-road. I’ve picked a whole lot of mud/dirt/sand out of my hair/teeth/every-other-orifice, I actually know first hand what off-road is. How many people at ROAR still do? From the looks of their rules, it looks to be none. #rantover

Vaterra announced their 72 Ford Bronco last week. The scale/trail/crawl segment is still hot so it should move some units. The body they came up with looks decent and the Ascender platform works well out in the sticks, should be a nice truck to bash around with. #scalesells

There was a bash in the Champaign metro area that I normally attend every year, however I missed it this year because I didn’t know when it was going to take place. Achtung event promoters, not everyone lives on FB (I don’t even have an FB account), if you want the world to know about your event you might need to actually put the word out. And… I can assure you that if THE Cub Reporter doesn’t know your event is going on, not very many other people do either. #missedopportunity

That’s it for this week, thanks for reading, thanks for hating, and hit your local hobby shop and bash spot when ya can. #untilnextweek
